Did your file get transferred to the Kitchener local office in Dec 2013 or did you apply for citizenship in Dec 2013? If it's the latter, then it would take about 6 months for Sydney to complete your background checks and send your file to the local office.

I called CIC today and was told that my file has been transferred to my local office (Kitchener, ON) as of Jan 10, 2014. Hoping I would hear about my test soon. Any May 2013 applicants having Kitchener, ON as the local office?

I thought that they now complete the background checks at Sydney itself. Maybe I'm wrong, but when I Called the CIC agents, they kept telling me that my file hasnt been transferred to the local office yet since it was pending background checks at the Sydney office.

When I checked my online status today, the Received line was removed and I only see the In-Process line. Does this mean that my file has now been transferred to the local office or does it mean that I've been RQ'd. I know some of you had mentioned in earlier posts that you saw the Received line...

CIC will still request the report from CBSA again. It's part of their process.

Jess, when you called, the agent mentioned your file is waiting on background checks and is still in the Sydney office right? I got the same answer when I called them and the agent said my file is still at Sydney. I'm now wondering if my file has been transferred as well and agents are just lazy...

I called CIC this morning to see if my file has been transferred to the local office and the agent said that it still hasnt been transferred and is currently waiting on background checks. I'm not sure what background checks they do at Sydney before transferring the file to the local office.

Congrats Chandu. Simkr, my application was received on May 27, 2013 as well and I still don't see anything in eCas. Hopefully next week. Hope that's some consolation for you :)
