    December 2023 - Citizenship Applications

Congratulations, my farmer friend on the brief respite from the impatience lol. Just don't start complaining about how long it's taking to get the passport. At least not for a couple weeks eh :p Now perhaps the most important question: your thoughts/learnings on the "planting a seed" process? I...

sorry for the delayed response. a bit busy with life getting things in place for life after citizenship. I was asked for fingerprints but that was because the last time I had submitted them was when I applied for a PR 4 years ago.

    December 2023 - Citizenship Applications

My friend, to me the best part is the excitement of getting there and not any « destination.» For me, the moment of becoming a Canadian is not some vaunted end goal. It's a milestone. In fact, for me, there are no end goals in this Great Infinite Journey of existence. Only milestones of...

After becoming a Canadian citizen, does one need to surrender the passport for their other citizenship?

I don't work for the PH government. Per that law, you must retake the oath but apparently you're having trouble believing that. Call the consulate to find out.

    December 2023 - Citizenship Applications

I have the same situation (also for a police certificate for a foreign country, funnily enough). I took their words in the email confirmation (the part you bolded) at face value. Whether my application is "stuck" or not, I can't say for sure. My LPP and BG are in progress but I'm assuming that's...

After becoming a Canadian citizen, does one need to surrender the passport for their other citizenship?

this is not true after RA 9225 was passed in 2003. Official act: https://www.officialgazette.gov.ph/2003/08/29/republic-act-no-9225/ you do have to take the oath to "retain" or reactivate (my term) your citizenship but you have not "lost" it nor has the PH govt stripped you of it. ie you do...

    December 2023 - Citizenship Applications

if you’re expecting someone here to give you an official list of criteria used to prioritize applications, you’ve come to the wrong place. I also have a really great bridge to sell if you’re interested. As long as you’re within the official time frame of their taking a decision, there’s not...

    Moving to USA

To provide a contrarian viewpoint, I moved from the USA to Canada and don’t plan go back, even though it wouldn’t be too hard for me given I worked there for many years, have sort of a network, still work remotely with a US company, and have a green card application (that I couldn't care less...

    PCC FOR CITIZENSHIP

I wasn’t suggesting you did or even that you need a PCC. I was trying to explain that the form would not automatically prompt you for what’s required just as it did not for me. Read the guide and figure out what you need to submit.

    PCC FOR CITIZENSHIP

The form won’t automatically tell you, if that’s what you mean. You need to infer what’s needed for your application based on the guide that was linked to above. Speaking from my own experience, I submitted a PCC but was asked to send in another more up-to-date one because I left Canada shortly...

IRCC offices in Ontario are much more strict those in BC

Thank you. These days they default you to the online version and you have to ask for an in-person, as far as I know. When my time comes, I’ll follow up in this thread.

IRCC offices in Ontario are much more strict those in BC

Curious if you know whether asking for an in-person ceremony after you‘ve been scheduled for a virtual one puts you at the back of the queue? It’s a hypothetical question for me at this point but just thinking ahead.
