Thanks for your advice. I had decided earlier to apply with a buffer of least 30 days but this unplanned travel is making me think twice of that decision. I want to avoid another stay outside Canada before applying hence could go with only 10 days buffer.

I am not anxious to apply sooner it is just that it going against my earlier decision to apply with a buffer of atleast 30 days and hence the query.

@Maruchan I have a follow-up question. I understand 30 days is a good buffer however If I make it 45 days, will it improve the processing time of my citizenship application. Since I am not yet eligible to apply, I can think about all possibilities. I am thinking about the best strategy for my case.

Thanks @dpenabill @armoured . I destroyed my old card. I got an opportunity to use the new card for a recent trip to United States. I went to Seattle from Toronto. On the way back, the journey was via Vancouver. I scanned the PR card at the automated machine upon arrival, and it all worked well.

He was off by a good margin (9 months). Fortunate enough, he was not reported. He should stay put and do not travel outside Canada.
