Soon to be divorced - when to apply for common law PR

Great forum with very knowledgeable people who respond quickly! If you were in my shoes, how would you present it? I have a lease agreement with both of our names running from June 1st, 2011 until May 31st, 2012. Her passport says entry to Canada June 23rd... (and most likely departing the...

Soon to be divorced - when to apply for common law PR

The reason I ask is not to pull a fast one but rather to make sure the 11 months in Canada and 1 month in Korea looks legit and doesn't look dodgy at all. So it's not clear to me how a lease agreement, bank statements, etc. will prove our 12 months in this case... Any ideas?

This is kind of a stupid question but once we have the lease agreement, bank account, testimonials and so on, how does CIC derive 12 months out of that?

I ask because my family is in Western Canada and her family is in Seoul. Will a simple marriage certificate with little fanfare...

Soon to be divorced - when to apply for common law PR

Hmmmmm, one more question: does it matter if part of those 12 months were when I was separated and some were when I was divorced? Thanks for your time and patience!

Soon to be divorced - when to apply for common law PR

Thank you very much for your clear explanations. I will have to weigh our options carefully. Going the marriage route is bit nervewracking given I am fresh out of a complicated divorce. She is planning to go back in January to see her family. I am thinking of convincing her to stay until...

Soon to be divorced - when to apply for common law PR

Here's my story: I have been separated for more than 3 years. During those three years, I met, dated, and lived with a South Korean. She has only ever had tourist status in Canada. Each of the three years, we lived together for the sixth months that she stayed here and then returned to...
