The Refugee ID is valid for 5 years, that can be used as well as a Provincial ID or Driver’s License if you have one. Your provincial health card can also be used as an ID. You may want to speak with a lawyer but it may not be wise to submit your new national ID from your home country. Best of luck.

It all depends on if they need a fresh set of prints for the background check. Waiting to see if they’ll ask me to submit my finger prints as well. You’ll just have to wait for an update from them on next steps.

Do not renew your national ID or any form of ID from your old country until after you become a citizen. It could see you losing your status in Canada. You should receive your refugee ID soon (brown paper)

You will most likely receive it by the end of this week as they’re sending out AORs for the week of October 4th.

Location and Physical Presence Days?

Time spent as a refugee claimant (waiting for refugee status) does not count even if you had a work permit or study permit during that time. You would begin to count your time as a Permanent Resident based on the date listed on your COPR at the Became a P.R. on section. I hope this helps.

I received an email on November 4, 2022 inviting me to come in and collect my passport that was ceased when I filed for asylum. I will be going in on November 17th, 2022.
