You seem to be operating under the assumption that your application is non-routine. It might not be. Or, there may be something holding it up that you don't realize (like security clearance, as mentioned). You can call them and talk to them, and you can request your GCMS notes to gain clarity...

"Arbitrary" would imply that there is no reasoning, but as noted, there is reasoning. In any case, I get it, it's frustrating. I thought my application would be very simple and straightforward. I need to renew my PR card now because it's taking so long.

Absolutely! I'm one of those non-routine applications. I check my application a few times a week, but I've stopped being hopeful for updates and just expect that there's no update now. The update on October 27th was such a tease. I'll try to put in an ATIP request this weekend.

Well, here we are! It's been a full 6 months since the last update in my application, with no further updates. :') I guess I may as well renew my PR card. It's a shame because I feel like I'm holding back on making any big life decisions until I know my citizenship is secure.

I'm in the same boat as you-- I applied in January 2023, then provided fingerprints, passed the test, and passed the BG check in March... and I've had no updates since then.

Same here, for the Niagara office-- I think my application is technically "non-routine" since I needed to provide my fingerprints, so I'm afraid that is going to mean waiting 12+ months. It's coming up on 5 months since I passed my test and my background check was cleared.

I applied in January of this year and did my test in March, then passed my BG later in March... haven't had an update since then. :(
