Approval in principle. The first stage approval for your PR or The approval that you are eligible to be sponsored for permanent resident. And that takes like 6-9 months as the case may be.

If you were out of status, you will not qualify for OWP. They will have to wait for your AIP before issuing your work permit. That’s the only reason most time, why OWP take longer than 4 months.

Why did it take so long? I mean 5 months, 2 weeks. Where you out of status? or they had to wait for your AIP before issuing your OWP.

Shannon, did you pay RPRF with your application? Most times what they do is deduct the 155 balance from the fee, and continue with the processing. I have heard couple of guys on here experienced that, and have got their OWP.

It’s exactly 4 months today since June 14th I submitted my sponsorship application with OWP. Am yet to receive an information on my OWP. Since I linked it to my cic account on July 14th... anyone with same experience?

Your OWP is your open work permit. Did you submit an OWP application with your Spousal Sponsorship? If yes, the you can link up your OWP to you CIC account. Follow the same process you did to link your Sponsorship application, but in place of family sponsorship, you will click WOrk Permit > Open...

It’s comes authomatical, check it up on your CIC account, if you have linked up your application.
