No they did not ask me , but I thought to do it In advance as it takes around 1 month approximately to get it done from rcmp , so whenever they willask me immediately I will upload it and can save few weeks, I think it may be work .

3rd party means, rcmp accredited centers, you can search it on Google for your nearby, I gave my fingerprints today at one of my nearest one,they took just 10 minutes

Did you receive any msg or updated the time when they started your background check

On my account it is showing that background not yet started, but the agent told me " background in process " , I did not receive any instructions for rcmp , I think agents also doesn't have much information . I'm from india
