Timeline process from biometrics/medical to approval

I've never heard of someone being denied because they were already in Canada (the reverse for inland applicants can happen if they are out of the country). The process for outland applicants who are in Canada is reasonably predictable and mostly works well, although they are making some changes...

    JULY 2020 *Outland* Spousal Sponsorship

Sorry, not exactly a new office, but handling files from other countries it likely woudln't have, seemingly in a support function (not entirely clear). (I was thinking more of shanghai and guangzhu I think). And yes - it would be one explanation. Of course, other explanations possible too, like...

    JULY 2020 *Outland* Spousal Sponsorship

Fingers crossed ! At least, I will have tried by anticipating that request. Interesting that Beijing is a new office, would definitely explain/rationalise at the very least why they are asking for more.

    JULY 2020 *Outland* Spousal Sponsorship

Good luck, will be interesting to see how Beijing handles. My own highly speculative theory is that Beijing as a newly stood-up office is pretty 'junior' with staff (and acting as backup to other offices) and the requests for more docs on intent-to-return is partly a result of that - they're...

    JULY 2020 *Outland* Spousal Sponsorship

Following your comment, I got an official letter from my employer confirming the move of my employment from our Dutch entity to our Canadian entity as of August 1st and just sent it via webform and email for Beijing VO where our application is. Hopefully, by confirming this before they request...

    April 2021 OUtLand Spouse Sponsorship

I was thinking the same, it’s just a bit difficult to provide a lot of info about returning when the end date is so unknown. I can’t provide travel dates, a lease etc until we know when we can travel. I agree though we need to have information lined up to show we will be residing in Canada...

List of questions that would give me peace of mind on the application. (2021)

If you're applying from abroad as a citizen, pay careful attention to the 'intent to return to Canada' part. Finances help. But both you and your spouse having plans is important in that respect. No, they won't think it's because you plan to break up. You'll need more demonstration of intent...

    June 2020 **Outland** Spousal Sponsorship

Thanks. My husbands application was an Outland one but I was already in Canada when we applied. Didn’t need to submit any additional docs or intent to return.

    June 2020 **Outland** Spousal Sponsorship

Congrats! Did you apply originally both outland? If so, did you ever get ADR to prove intent to return? If so, what documents did you provide?

How to establish enough ties to prove the intent to return to Canada after spouse becomes PR?

Yes, I don't know if I misunderstood or not; either way, that's fine, just provide what you can. Personally I think a letter of some kind as I described above is actually quite strong evidence of intent to return. Not enough on its own, but still a good start.

    JULY 2020 *Outland* Spousal Sponsorship

I think it may if the sponsor is intending to return shortly, ie before the PA gets ppr. But unless that's the actual plan (such as for documented employment as in another case here), concur that just purchasing tickets to bolster the file is a waste.

    JULY 2020 *Outland* Spousal Sponsorship

Buying tickets to support intent to return will have very little or no effect on an approval. It's not taken into consideration since they know you have no idea when approval might come. Keep the $$ in your pocket for now.

    JULY 2020 *Outland* Spousal Sponsorship

Alright, well, I guess I'll be safe and gather all possible documents on my end, just in case ! Anyway, will keep my fingers crossed and hope they don't ask :D Good luck !

How to establish enough ties to prove the intent to return to Canada after spouse becomes PR?

My wife is a Canadian citizen working and residing in US. We are in the process of filing a Family Class Spousal application from US. While going through the check-list, we came across a point where she needs to "Provide proof that you will live in Canada with your spouse once they become...

    JULY 2020 *Outland* Spousal Sponsorship

I left out the other part of my impression, or mentioned only in passing, that some offices (or more general approach?) seem to be asking for info as standard operating procedure. These tendencies obviously can contradict each other. I don't have a lot of suggestions, there are a few others who...

    JULY 2020 *Outland* Spousal Sponsorship

I had the same impression, but I guess I'm unlucky... just got a request for additional intent to return proof. PA from ETA country. Really don't know what else to send... I was trying to avoid buying tickets already but I guess I have no choice. My guess is they want an update because it has...

    JULY 2020 *Outland* Spousal Sponsorship

When you get your job offer/contract or whatever, that will be useful info to provide and I'd do it as soon as you get it. Even if they're not 'worried' about your intent to return, like any bureaucratic process, answering the question (before they've asked it) might speed things up, makes the...

    JULY 2020 *Outland* Spousal Sponsorship

That would somehow make sense honestly. Perception of intent for PA from ETA country is different, which affect the requests. Thank you so much for the insights ! Whatever happens, it is better to be prepared than not, so I'll make sure to gather some documents just in case.

    JULY 2020 *Outland* Spousal Sponsorship

Legally you are changing employer, and your new contract will be with the Canadian subsidiary/affiliate. IRCC will not care whether you are doing the exact same job or just similar but with Canadian clients (for example) - because in all important respects it is a new employer and a new job...
