Update:
March 27 2025: Status on Tracker was upated to show details of Attend the Interview and it shows April 17th 2025 as my Interview date. Virtual Interview
Citizenship Verification Interview was done. I m sharing my experience.
I logged into Teams about 2 mins before my scheduled time (which is 1145 AM Central April 17).
Officer logged in just about 2 mins after 1145.
Q1 - Asked my name to verbally confirm
Q2: Are you in Canada right now. Me: No
Q3: Where are you now. Me: I m currently in US
Q4: When did you leave Canada. Me: March 2023
Officer said: that is a very long time that you are outside the country. So I need to verify your Physical Presence.
Q5: Show your PR card. Me: Showed it on Teams webcam
Q6: Show your Drivers License. Me: I showed my US Drivers License.
Officer asked, do you have Canada License. I explained that I had to surrender Canada License to get my US Drivers License.
Q7: Why did you leave Canada. Me: Explained that my Canadian Wife got her visa approved for a temporary project job to US. So I am accompanying here. And will stay with her till June 30 2025.
Q8: Do you have any other Canada document. Me: I showed a copy of my old Canada Drivers License, but that was already expired in 2022 August.
Q9: Where do you work, what do you, what does your company do. Me: Answered appropriately.
Officer started to verify my Physical Presence based on the information he has from IRCC I think and compared it with my Physical Presence document I submitted with the Citizenship Application. There was detailed check on my extensive leave and enter Canada check.
There was a discrepency found. I submitted my Application on Sept 1 2024 when I was in Canada. Then immediately left to USA next day. But just days after, I got another IRCC email that I need to re-submit the Application. So I submitted it again while I was outisde Canada on Sept 9 2024.
So the Officer only knows that I truly submitted the application on Sept 9 2024. So he subtracted those extra days to my Physical Presence.
Yet, I am still under valid limit of the number of days - which is good news for me.
He eventually asked, I need to see US I-94 and asked me to email him.
I got an email after the interview was concluded at 12:15 pm (30 mins total). I submitted my US I-94 Travel History.
Awaiting for next progress. No updates on Tracker yet.
Overall, was a smooth interview. Officer was very pleasant to talk with, was just making sure my Physical Presence is accurate and no discrepencies on what I submitted in my Application. He also mentioned that, once he reviews my I-94 Travel History, if all checks out well, he will approve and move my Application forward.
Additionally, Officer mentioned that it will be a in-person Oath Ceremony (even though in my application I stated as Virtual). And that I MUST be present in Canada for Oath.
I obliged it. And actually asked to put a note on my Application that I can take the Oath after June 30th. There was no guarantee made, but Officer made sure to put a note on case.
