Hello, this is my situation. I moved to Canada in August of 2018. Applied for a PR in 2021. Still in the security check. I’m currently 16 years old and want to go to uni here and travel. Wondering what will happen if my PR doesn’t come in time considering I applied with my family. Mom dad and sister, dad served in the Iran IRGC as part of mandatory service. Can I separate myself from there application, and apply again or something so my application isn’t affected by my dad’s military service. Any advice on how to expedite the process since I’ve been here since I was 10 years old and no way I can move back to Iran. Thanks

Did you get protected person status or did your parents and add you as a dependent?

I don't believe it's possible to split your application out since you were a dependent in your parents' refugee claim. I think you have to wait it out. If you want to confirm, I would recommend you get a consult with an immigration lawyer.

If you want to be able to travel, you can apply for an RTD. Make sure you don't travel to your home country either on the RTD or once you have PR.

I believe our application is held up due to my father’s military background. If assuming we all withdraw this application and reapply individually. Would I receive my PR much faster? Considering the time I was in Canada for and how I am unable to go back home due to both my age and how integrated I am into Canada . (Can’t barely speak my language). Thank you

Not based on my understanding.

To the best of my knowledge, since you are a dependent, your PR cannot be granted until your entirely family passes the background / security check. Your father needs to be admissible in order for you to get PR.

Talk to a good immigration laywer before you do anything.
