Hello @missbee, thanks for all your support
What is the estimated timeline to receive PR card after eCOPR
My daughter; inland received her eCOPR on the 14th of February. On the 19th February, an update of her address was requested, which was sent immediately
When should we expect the card in the mail? Cos she is planning to travel soon and she does not have a visa
As of February 2025, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) estimates a processing time of approximately 37 days for issuing a new Permanent Resident (PR) card after the issuance of an electronic Confirmation of Permanent Residence (eCOPR). Given that your daughter received her eCOPR on February 14 and promptly updated her address on February 19, she should expect to receive her PR card around late March.
If the PR card does not arrive within six weeks beyond the standard processing time, IRCC advises completing a solemn declaration to report the non-receipt.
For urgent travel without a valid PR card, permanent residents are required to apply for a Permanent Resident Travel Document (PRTD) from outside Canada to facilitate their return. Alternatively, IRCC offers urgent processing of PR cards for individuals traveling within the next three months due to reasons such as a job opportunity, serious illness, or the death of a family member. To request urgent processing, one must provide proof of travel and documentation supporting the urgency.

Given the current timelines, if your daughter’s travel plans are imminent and she does not have a visa, she should consider applying for urgent processing of her PR card or, if already abroad, a PRTD to ensure a smooth return to Canada.

Hi @Miss bee,

Our work permit extension has been approved till 2027 June. My sons passport will be expiring in September 2026. We will being applying for a new passport in June this year and should receive in the same month. We will use his new passport probably in June 2026, to extend his visitor visa in order to match our new work permit timeline of June 2027, if we do not receive PR by then.

My wife is also planning to apply for a new passport, even though her passport is only expiring in 2028, as she will not be going home for a while.

In these situations, must i inform IRCC of my son and wife, second passport? even though though we have not received PR yet and their current passports will be still valid during the process of the PR application?

Appreciate your feedback.
You are not required to inform IRCC about your son’s and wife’s new passports unless IRCC specifically requests updated passport information during the PR process. Since their current passports remain valid during the application process, it should not affect their PR application.

However, if you receive a request for updated documents (such as a passport request for visa issuance), you should provide the most recent passport details at that time. If your son or wife travels using their new passports, it’s a good idea to update IRCC then, especially if they need a visa or permit linked to their passport number.

Hi @Miss bee-Thank you for always clarifying my queries. I need your expert advice once again.

I applied for a Bridging Open Work Permit (BOWP) and a study permit for my child in the last week of November, but we have not received a response yet. Now, my child has received an offer for an undergraduate program and needs to apply for a post-secondary study permit.

Should I apply separately for his post-secondary study permit, or should I send a webform to IRCC with the university offer letter, referencing the existing BOWP application? Please advice.
Given that your child’s study permit application, submitted in late November 2024, is still under processing, and they have now received an offer for an undergraduate program, you have a couple of options to consider:
1. Submit the New Offer Letter via IRCC Webform:
You can update the existing study permit application by sending the new university offer letter through the IRCC Webform. This allows IRCC to consider the updated information without requiring a new application. However, processing times for such updates can vary, and there’s no guarantee that the new information will be reviewed before a decision is made on the current application.

2. Submit a New Study Permit Application:
Alternatively, you can submit a new study permit application that includes the latest offer letter and all other required documents. This ensures that all information is current and relevant to your child’s intended program of study. Keep in mind that this approach will incur additional application fees and will be subject to standard processing times, which, as of November 2024, are approximately 16 weeks for in-Canada applications.

Recommendation:
If time permits and to avoid potential delays, submitting a new study permit application with the updated offer letter may be the more straightforward approach. Ensure that all required documents are included to facilitate timely processing. If your child’s current study permit is nearing expiration, it’s advisable to apply for an extension to maintain legal status in Canada while awaiting the new permit.

It’s important to stay informed about current processing times and requirements by regularly checking the IRCC website or consulting with an immigration advisor to ensure compliance with all regulations.

@Miss bee would really appreciate an input for this
Since your OINP nomination was not employer-restricted and you applied under the Master’s Graduate Stream (which does not require a job offer), you do not need to inform OINP about your employer change.

For your PR application with IRCC, since you have not yet received an AOR, you do not need to update them at this stage either. However, once you receive your AOR, you may choose to update IRCC via a webform if you believe it is relevant to your application (though it is unlikely to impact your PR process).

Thanks @Miss bee. We are applying for our new TRV's which requires a passport request, within 3 weeks, and this will be done with our current passports.

My sons and wife new passports will be only done after June 2025. Basically, as you mentioned any new visa issuance thereafter , we should use our new passports? Thank you.

Yes, that’s correct! Since your current TRV applications will be processed with your existing passports, the visas issued will be linked to those passports.
After June 2025, once your wife and son receive their new passports, any future visa or permit applications should be submitted using the new passport details. If they travel on their old passports with valid visas, they should carry both the old and new passports for verification.

Since your PR tracker shows all sections as complete, but you haven’t received the Portal 1 email, it’s likely that your application is in the final review or queue for approval. Here are a few possible reasons for the delay:
Final Officer Review – Even if all steps are marked as complete, an officer still needs to do a final review before sending the Portal 1 request. This can sometimes take weeks.
Batch Processing – IRCC may be processing approvals in batches, and your file could be in a queue waiting for the next round

Security Screening Completion – If security assessment was the last step marked as “Completed,” there might be an internal delay in transitioning your file to the final approval stage.

Administrative Delays – Sometimes, applications remain in the system even after completion due to internal processing delays or system updates.

Since everything is complete, you’re in the final stretch. If you don’t receive Portal 1 within a few weeks, you could raise a webform to confirm the status.
