Hello,

I am Canadian and my husband is Belgian. We applied for a TRV as he is criminally inadmissible to Canada and cannot possibly wait 10 years to apply for rehabilitation.

We hired a lawyer and applied for a TRV outland (Belgium). We just found out after a 18 month wait and thousands of dollars spent that his TRV has been denied. We are devastated.

We talked to a few lawyers and realised An appeal is hopeless, so we are hoping to re apply and send it a stronger application. Both myself and our 3 year old daughter are now in Canada, and we hope to reunified. We are hoping this way they will accept him.

As his case is complex, we need the best help out there. Does anyone have any lawyer recommendations in the Toronto area? We need the best of the best or we don’t stand a chance. Thanks in advance!

Your best option would be to relocate to Belgium. What are his charges and when are they from?

Yes we realise that. We have the opportunity here to take over the family business, hence why we we want to stay in Canada and not wait 10 years.

He has two assault charges (1 causing bodily harm) and one DUI. All offences took place in 2013/14 but his probation just ended September 2020. We realise with these charges it makes it even worst. But still we want to try one last time, before giving up completely.

You can hire another lawyer but the chances of success are likely quite low.

You’d probably need to work with an immigration and criminality lawyer. My advise would be to pick a reputable firm that can serve both aspects of your husband’s case.

You may want to consult Matthew Jeffery, Mamann Sandaluk & Kingwell LLP, Bellissimo Law Group, or Gerami Law PC in Toronto. They have experience with complex immigration cases. Hope this helps!
