TRV denied criminal inadmissibility- need a good lawyer!

Yes we realise that. We have the opportunity here to take over the family business, hence why we we want to stay in Canada and not wait 10 years. He has two assault charges (1 causing bodily harm) and one DUI. All offences took place in 2013/14 but his probation just ended September 2020. We...

TRV denied criminal inadmissibility- need a good lawyer!

Hello, I am Canadian and my husband is Belgian. We applied for a TRV as he is criminally inadmissible to Canada and cannot possibly wait 10 years to apply for rehabilitation. We hired a lawyer and applied for a TRV outland (Belgium). We just found out after a 18 month wait and thousands of...

Hello, A little background - I am Canadian and I have applied for a Spousal Sponsorship and TRP outland (Belgium) for my husband and received AOR in August 2019. My husband still does not have the confirmation of TRP, our last instructions was a request to pay biometrics fee on December 31...

    Certified Copies + Translations

My lawyer only specified that translated documents need a certified copy. To be honest though I am not entirely sure. They did not say anything regarding the birth certificate.

    Certified Copies + Translations

Interesting, it might be different for different communes but we got an international version of his birth certificate that was in Dutch/French/German/English, so we didn't need to translate. But I suppose I could try and contact the FPS (Foreign Affaires office). I assume that is what you are...

Do incidents not found on criminal record need to be declared?

Thank you for your detailed response. I will look into a temporary resident permit, of course we can stay in Belgium until he is deemed rehabilitated, but the job offer he has is way too good to pass up on.

Do incidents not found on criminal record need to be declared?

He is currently doing his community service/therapy. The incident occurred 5 years ago. The problem is that he has a job offer in Canada, and we have a baby on the way so waiting 5 years to be considered rehabilitated will be very difficult. So any advice is much appreciated!

Do incidents not found on criminal record need to be declared?

For the assault, was found guilty, but only sentenced to community service/therapy. For the other incident he went to court but he was found not guilty, therefore no conviction.

Do incidents not found on criminal record need to be declared?

Thanks for the info, we will then fill out an application for criminal rehabilitation 'for information only' as stated on the website. Do you have any idea how likely someone would get their sponsorship with an 'assault' crime? I am just wondering if maybe it is worth hiring an immigration...

Do incidents not found on criminal record need to be declared?

If the primary applicant was charged with assault, went to court for it, and the verdict was to do community service/aggression therapy, but there is nothing on their criminal record, do they need to mention it in their Family Sponsorship application? Their criminal record is completely clean...

Canadian sponsoring husband and unborn baby

Thank you for reply! That makes the process a lot easier, I suppose we will just have to wait for her to be born in order to apply for her Canadian citizenship certificate before we move to Canada.

Canadian sponsoring husband and unborn baby

That's a good question. I did not really think of it. It is true that since I am Canadian (born and raised in Canada) our daughter can acquire Canadian citizenship. I suppose that would be the best way to go.

Hi everyone, I am hoping I could get some advice. I am Canadian living in Belgium with my Belgian husband. We are planning on moving back to Canada, and I am filling out the forms for family sponsorship. My first question is, how does it work to sponsor our baby? Do I need to wait until she is...
