EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATOR (ECE) (NOC 42202) FOR ENTRY EXPRESS

Now that they have officially released a separate category for educational occupations, I plan on applying to the entry express stream as opposed to other streams as it seems easier but I’m still a bit confused on how to go about it.

I currently have qualifications that are related to childhood education but it’s not a direct early childhood certificate so I’m confused on if I’m supposed to just get it evaluated using WES and apply for EE or get licensed before I apply for the entry express, and to get licensed I would first get it evaluated and then would apply for licensure. I’m not sure if I’m supposed to get it evaluated using the standard WES (which says it’s for licenses) or the IRCC WES (which says it’s for immigration).

This is my first time applying for something like this so even with the intensive research I’ve already done I’m still puzzled and would really appreciate any help!

The documents I have are:
  • Bachelors (unrelated to education)
  • NCFE Cache level 3
  • NCFE Cache level 5
According to the only other ECE related forum I found here, my qualifications would add to a 2 year degree which is the minimum requirement but i’m not sure whether they got it evaluated with the IRCC or Standard version WES.

Any advice on how to go about this would be extremely appreciated! My current step is studying for the IELTS exam, I should be able to get a high score but even with that my points would only range between 400 and 420.

Some questions i have are:
  1. Should I use WES standard version or WES IRCC?
  2. Do I apply for a ECE license in a province or can I directly apply for the entry express?
  3. Is there a website to find LMIA full time jobs? The job bank only shows if a job is LMIA approved or not if it’s a temporary position.

Thank you in advance.

1. WES for IRCC.
2. You apply if eligible. Most provinces require you to be living and working in the province. Licensing most likely happens after you have. PR and have landed and living in a province.
3. No. Why do you need a LMIA? You aren’t licensed so may not get approved for a closed work permit.

If not in Canada, you still need to be eligible for EE-FWS. What is your selection factor score out of 67? If not high enough, you cannot enter the EE pool.

Hi again! so sorry for replying late but thank you for the information, I’ve started my WES process.

My score should be above 67 if i get a high score in the English test.

Is there anything like a conditional job offer that would be eligible for EE? such as “This person will have this job once they are approved a PR” or something along those lines

Job offer means nothing.

No such thing as a conditional job offer. If you want the additional 50 points for having a job offer under EE, you need a job offer and approved LMIA from the employer in Canada.

oh really?? i thought it added additional points
They just removed all 50 points for "ALL" applicants with Job offer arrangement in Express Entry, so sad that even those who have arranged "valid" and "legal' or let's say 'not bought" job offer were also included to this deduction....

Hi Naturgrl and Scylla, I have obtained my ECE full time courses at a Training Institute here in BC however that is only 7 months. This training institute is one of the DLI's in Canada and approved Training institute in BC and now I already have my ECE Certificate 5-Year issued by the ECE BC Registry (Ministry). Can I add this as a Canadian Education to earn point in Express Entry, however there is a question on that part, "enter the full academic years of the education obtained in Canada" - since this is only 7 months from (September to April), what could I answer here - since the box only accept whole #s like 1 or 2 or 3 or 4. And also is this education that I have considered as Post-Secondary Education? Because when I searched the meaning of Post Secondary Education in Canada - these are all the Colleges, Institute, Training or Vocational in Canada that offers Degree, Diploma and Certificates, so does my ECE cert considered then as PSE? Thanks to both of you.

For LMIAs, yes. Job offer gave no points. Program needs to be at least one year program so get no points for that. If you have ECA for foreign education then include it. It is most likely a certificate? Does certificate say a one year program? What is the school?

Hi Naturagrl, its Creative Minds Early Learning Society, and the program name is ECE Basic Certificate with approved DLI # by IRCC and a recognized Private Post Secondary by the Province of BC.

So it is not a year certificate to count as Canadian education or give extra points. Need a year not 7 months. Use foreign education for points. So leave it blank.

What is the name because not in DLI list.

Its Creative Minds Early Learning Society, they just removed their institution DLI from the list effective February 2025 as the Executive Director is not anymore teaching and has close the institute, the last batch of classes was last year 2024 our batch. However, the institute is still in the list of recognized ECE institution in BC, but i think they are also applying for removal from the list.

But it is not a year long certificate so you cannot add it to your profile. It is 7 months.
