I did use XXX in the first name in the OCI forums. BLS instructed to use same format as Canadian passport.

Dear Shubh, Use the same name as in your Canadian passport. Attach one self attested letter explaining the reason for no first name. You have to do similar letter for your OCI but in case of OCI, notarized letter is recommended. thanks and regards

When we applied two months ago, they did not require the attestation (from jarvis street ) for the canadian birth certificate. We were able to get it without any attestation. Myself and my spouse attested the copy of Canadian birth certificate.

there is only one section where it ask for the previous nationality, i entered India and cancelled passport number.

On BLS webiste https://www.blsindia-canada.com/ocihome.php, it says 6- 8 weeks.
