TRV work permit from Italy

Hello everyone, I am from Italy and I applied online for a closed work permit. I should have landed on 4th March to start working as visiting researcher in Ontario but I had to change my flight ticket since IRCC is delaying my application.
Application submitted: 6th January 2022 from Italy
Biometrics: 10th January at Lyon VAC (France)
At the moment on the IRCC website it is written that processing time is 7weeks for Italy, but have been 8 weeks now since I gave biometrics.

In my IRCC account it is written:
Review of eligibility: Your application is in progress. We will send you a message when we start reviewing your eligibility.
Background check: We are processing your background check. We will send you a message if we need more information.
Final decision: Your application is in progress. We will send you a message once the final decision has been made.
Application number: W30...

Does anyone of you have experienced similar delays? It is mandatory to send the passport too? I really need it to be processed as fast as possible since I should have started work already.

Your application has yet to start eligibility review. 7 weeks is an average. It can take more time than that.

How is that possible? I mean, after 8 weeks they have not start to review my eligibility?? So you're saying that it will take a lot of time yet?

Not saying it will take a lot of time…just reading what it says under “Review of Eligibility.” Issue may be that you are under a LMIA exemption (correct?) so it needs to be verified that you are LMIA exempt.

Yes I am under LMIA exemption, the university where I will work has paid to obtain a LMIA-exempt number and in my application I had to put this number in some of the forms.

Honestly, there isn't anything you can do. It sucks. Hopefully from today everything will move quickly.

Guys, I have applied for a postdoc work permit from Italy too. The processing time on the website is 7 weeks. Anyway, it has been 6 weeks and no news yet. My question is, why when I contact the embassy they reply that your application is being reviewed by an office inside Canada? And I have to ask questions through the web form. In this case, which processing time applies to my application? the one from Italy or inside Canada (I am not in Canada)? I appreciate your comments in this regard.

From Italy. It is an average time so can be more (and most likely will) than 7 weeks.

Unfortunately, there is no clear info on the website and when I contact them they send this automatic reply that your application is being reviewed by an office from inside Canada. Do you have any idea why the embassy does not take care of itself? Thanks again.

IRCC frequently shifts work between offices where one office is overloaded and another office has cycles. Basically they do this to avoid processing taking even longer because one particular office is dealing with too many applications.
