It is the same as the last few years. You can stay in Canada if you get a job offer and wait after you apply for a LMIA. You don’t need to leave Canada.

Does the person have a LMIA? If so, yes.

If the employer is willing to pay $1k, prove no Canadian or PR could be hired, fill out paperwork and then potentially wait months for a LMIA. Then if you get LMIA, apply for a closed work permit and wait months again.

Finding an employer willing to go through the process of hiring someone who isn’t already able to work legally in Canada can be very difficult. Between waiting for an employer to get an LMIA and to get a WP is a 6-9 month process with no guarantees of a WP. You may not realize how difficult this process actually is.
