My PR card is about to expire in 8 months. I would like to apply for a renewal now because I know it currently takes a long time to receive the new card.
However, I will need to travel outside of Canada in about 3-4 months. In case, the processing of the new PR card takes longer than that, my question is: Can I still travel and come back to Canada with my old PR card (which would not be expired at that time) or it does this old card become invalid the moment I apply for the renewal?
And another question: What if the new card arrives to my Canadian address while I'm abroad? Will this mean I won't be able to come back to Canada using the old card even if it has not expired yet?
