In the checklist for the spousal sponsorship application it asks for proof of contact if the sponsor and the applicant are not living together. It says: "Provide letters, printed text message, emails or social media conversations or other documented proof of contact between you and your sponsor. Provide a maximum of 10 pages"

I have two questions. First in the Canada immigration website, under "Evidence of relationship" this information has been asked under the common law partner relationship category and not the spousal relationship category (see the link below). I am not in a common-law relationship. The person I am sponsoring is my spouse to whom I am married. Should I still provide this kind of evidence (text or social media messages).

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/publications-manuals/operational-bulletins-manuals/permanent-residence/non-economic-classes/family-class-determining-spouse/assessing-relationship.html

My second question is, if I should provide text or social media messages as evidence, can I provide copies of our WhatsApp conversations? If so. should I translate them into English? And should I translate them myself or should I ask a certified translator to do it? Thanks

For question one, just follow the checklist.
For your second question, Yes you can provide WhatsApp conversations or any other social media or communication method. For translation, if anything is not in French or English, it should be translated by certified translator.

Thank you, very helpful.

My husband and I just got visa on the 15th. For proof of contact I provided 2 pages of screenshots of Facebook posts and in pen circled names of people who commented or were pictured or liked the posts and explained their relationship to us. Comments in Spanish were displayed in English with Facebook's non-certified translation and this was accepted in my case. For proof of communication I provided some phone bills from a sample of months. Most of my husband and my communication was via video chat or phone.

See my signature for timeline.

Thank you for your helpful response. Did you translate your phone bills? Thanks again.
If your phone bills aren’t in English then yes you should. Alternatively, you can take call history from your mobile device as screenshots in English.
