Hey guys,

https://www.ontario.ca/page/oinp-employer-job-offer-foreign-worker-stream#section-9

I am checking the points breakdown for OINP Foreign JO stream and notice that there is a 3 points for NOC Level A experience. In order to claim points, does it have to be 1 year full time experience? I have 6 months experience on a NOC A job right now and I'm not sure if I will be able to claim the 3 points stated there.

Thanks!
The link states,

To meet the work experience requirement, you must have at least two years of cumulative paid full-time work experience (or the equivalent in paid part-time work) in the same occupation (same National Occupational Classification code) as your job offer.

You must have gained this work experience within the five years prior to the date you submit your application, not the date you received the invitation to apply. If your work experience was gained in Canada, you must have been legally living and working in Canada.

Cumulative means the work you’ve done must add up to two years – it does not have to be two years of continuous work

Thanks. So it doesn't refer to the Canadian experience? My understanding from that part you mentioned is that's the work experience required, regardless if it's a foreign or Canadian work experience. It's a requirement. Unlike the points that can be claimed in this part:

Canadian work experience:
NOC skill level

  • NOC Skill Level A – 3 points
  • NOC Skill Level B – 0 points
  • NOC Skill Level C – 0 points
  • NOC Skill Level D – 0 points
Does it mean that I still need to have 2 years of Canadian experience on NOC Level A in order to gain 3 points?

As listed in the document checklist, you get points for one year (duration) but doesn't state how long to count NOC A. Just says that you need proof of employment in the NOC.

For anyone searching the same that may have stumble on this thread:

OINP confirmed that it doesn't have to be 1 year to claim the 3 points for NOC Skill Level A canadian experience.

Hello,

Thank you for your correspondence to the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP).

An individual may claim points for the Canadian Work Experience: NOC Skill Level factor if they have work experience in Canada in a NOC Skill Level A position. They may also claim points for the Canadian Work Experience: Duration factor based on the total time employed across all jobs in Canada irrespective of Skill Level.

For more information on the calculation of scoring factors, please visit our expression of interest system page.

Thank you for your interest in the OINP.

Sincerely,

Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program | Programme ontarien des candidats à l’immigration
