Well such an officer would be paid to do their research and learn as much as they can about their dirty tactics. Think of it like a border security agency type thing.

Agreed and this is a harder problem to tackle. As you said it has to do with the money coming from the education market i.e. schools selling degrees. It takes a crazy leader to handle those guys.

This is what I expect and fear. There's no reason why entire regions of country X (India China you name it, it doesn't matter) shouldn't move to Canada/US/EU given the chance.

Yes and no. Chinook is a rule engine based excel "app", AFAIK. Sooner than the later, people will game it and break it. Once you break it, you break it for a lot of clients. Its a hard cat and mouse game. Unless you make Indian government honestly involved in this game, it will be hard to defeat the fraudsters. You need to throw Indian government a bone and pretty big one and then make them involved in vetting of anyone. They have more data on its own citizens.

As much as I know, Canada needs warm bodies right now... from where the hell the can get it, they will take it. I mean, if you have a massive land that is going to become warmer and warmer with each decade and you have biggest amount of fresh water on the planet, you will like to have an economy that goes with it. Having more people has its advantages. You need to raise an army? well, you need people. You need consumption? you need people.

As the things are right now, they are dependent on seasonal workers coming from all over the world to just harvest their crops. One of the big problems I heard during pandemic was a fear that they will not be able to get those workers to harvest produce.

The solution isn't in importing people like electronics or food, but to turn back and find out what went wrong to put the country in that in the first place and solve it. The effort that goes into accomodating foreign students should go into supporting and promoting young Canadian couples. This will never happen under a lib govt in power. A country quota might be on the table if Pierre Poilievre ever becomes the PM.

Exactly dude and you don't see Italy or Japan or many others frantically importing people like TVs. That's why I think all the current immigration statements in Canada saying Canada needs this much immigration are wrong, they're just blindly followed.

I don't know about Italy, but Japan was EXTREMELY averse to immigration till very recently, You needed to live 10 years in Japan before you can be a PR... you know what they have done?

Its called Highly Skilled Professional Visa... It yields PR in 1 year if you are good...

Look at its point based system. It has CEC written all over it. Heck it even allows you to immigrate you father and mother and a servant!

I mean had this been 2005 - 2010, I would have been in Japan and my son would have been calling me Chichioya in the cute Japanese voice. Nothing is sexier than hearing your wife call you "Anata"... Damn!

Would you be in favor of stricter immigration if it meant you will have to suffer in the eastern European hellhole that you can't even name? Would you be willing to sacrifice your own immigration chances for "better" immigration for Canada that you supposedly love dearly?

Your suggested solutions are the same as the solutions of population control. "Just wipe out half the population in the world and we won't have a population crisis. Just as long as I and everyone I know live and survive!"

What Canada knowingly does is create colleges that serve as degree mills that enable these people to migrate to your beloved step-motherland. The blame is on them not on the people. They willingly open door for these people.


And by the way, since you portray yourself as a Phd holder who is supposedly supersmart and belong to a non-billion population country, why can't you migrate a little further south? It seems to suit your temperament very well. Country-cap? Done. Immigration authority that kicks people out for banal reasons? Done. Ultimately its the money but its also about having a population. You do not want one small lump sum money when you can get a cash flow over life time. Taxes are much like rent..
