SINP - Should Education and Occupation be related?

Hi All,

I am from India. I have completed my Bachelor of Engineering in the field of Mechanical in the year 2014 and entered IT field. My NOC is 2173 - Software Engineers and Designers. Currently in the SINP EOI, for the question

Is your degree, diploma or certificate related to the occupation you have chosen above? - I have selected No.

Recently in 2021, I have completed my MBA in the field of Technology Management. I have had few subjects related to Computer Science. So once I get my ECA done for MBA, can I change the answer to above question as Yes or would it still remain No as MBA on the whole is related to management studies and has very little to do with technology?

Also is it necessary that my degree and occupation should be related to be eligible for getting a nomination from Sasket?

Why don't you apply for NOC 2171 with your MBA?
Employment requirements
A bachelor's degree in computer science, computer systems engineering, software engineering, business administration or a related discipline or completion of a college program in computer science is usually required.
Experience as a computer programmer is usually required.
Certification or training provided by software vendors may be required by some employers.

@ashuindian Thank you so much for your suggestion Given the current condition (No FSW draws) I am aiming for Ontario PNP Tech Draw as well, which has 2173 NOC and not 2171.

Can I have 2 express entry profiles, one with 2173 NOC and another with 2171 NOC, and link the 2171 NOC profile for SINP?

You can only have one EE profile. You need to pick one NOC or the other.

As said earlier I have completed my Bachelor of Engineering in the field of Mechanical in the May-2014 and MBA in Technology Management in Aug-2021. I am working in IT field from Apr-2015 and my total experience is 7 years and 3 months. My NOC is 2173 - Software Engineers and Designers.

I have created SINP EoI Profile under International Skilled Workers - Saskatchewan Express Entry. Below are the details I have provided.

1) Is your degree, diploma or certificate related to the occupation you have chosen above? - I have selected Yes (considering my MBA in Technology Management)

2) Skilled Work Experience

• The principal applicant's work experience points are calculated according to documented proof of skilled work experience (NOC 0, A, B) in their intended occupation in the last ten years. Documentation must include a letter of reference from the supervisor or Human Resources officer for each work experience listed that is printed on company letterhead that states the job title, job duties, wage and duration of employment. Other documentation that is required to prove skilled work experience is listed on www.saskatchewan.ca/sinp. Occupations In-Demand or Express Entry category applicant must allocate points for their work experience in their chosen EOI NOC code of occupation only.

• Work experience gained over the last ten years is weighted. Applicants get two points for each year worked in the intended occupation in the most recent five years, and one point for each year from the six to ten year period prior to applying, up to a maximum of 15 points.

(A) Work experience during the most recent five years prior to application
10 pts - 5 years

(B) Work Experience during the six to ten year period prior to application
2 pts - 2 years
e.g., If an application is submitted on 1-Jan-2014, points for experience gained during the most recent five years would be from 2009-2013, and points for experience gained during the six to ten year period would be from 2004-2008.

Considering all my 7+ years experience and it to be related to my recent education of MBA in Technology Management which I completed in Aug-2021.

Is this a valid EoI profile submission? If not, what changes should I do considering my education and occupation are related based on MBA in Technology Management.

Can I have SINP Occupation in Demand profile with NOC 2171 (considering my MBA in Technology Management completed in 2021) and education and occupation relevant experience as 7 years from Apr-2015? Or should the relevant experience be 1 year only since I have completed MBA only in 2021?
