Hi. Can anyone assist me. I came here on a visitors visa and started applying for jobs. I have been to an interview and done everything the employer required like POC and submitting certificates. When they were about to give me a contract they find out that they should have an LMIA in place to do so. My question is, is there no other way of getting a work permit once the issue a contract. Work was for the Community Assistance in a physical challenged people

Your employer needs a LMIA. You can’t get a work permit without one. A job offer is not enough to apply for a WP. What country are your from? What province are you in?

I am from South Africa. I am in Vancouver now.
Ok. You need a job offer with LMIA. Then you can apply for a closed work permit. The employer must pay $1k and file for LMIA and prove no Canadian or PR could be hired. Takes months and then you file for closed work permit. Takes months to process too.

Other option is to look at economic immigration through Express Entry or BC PNP programs. You will want education assessed and possibly IELTS completed too.

The LMIA is mandatory in order for you to qualify to apply for a work permit.
