Hello, everybody.
I going to change my program from phd to a college. I have the punch of questions.
1- should I take a new CAQ?
2- I will leave program in May2022 and start new one Sep.2022. can I work during this gap?
3- the last question is that, if I apply for new CAQ and it refues, what will happen to my previous CAQ?
thank you all in advance

1. yes, since you are changing the level of studies (assuming your new course taught would be in the province of Québec.
2. yes, assuming your study permit is valid until Sep 2022 or if you have applied and received your CAQ and the new Study Permit before the expiry of your current Study Permit.
3. nothing, there is an option to appeal the Ministère de l'Immigration, de la Francisation et de l'Intégration (MIFI)'s decision. Simply apply for the appeal against the decision if you feel it was wrong.

P.S: You might want to check with the official website or a consultant (only if you require) to verify what i have stated above since i have answered from what i remember when i went through the process last year. The process might have changed this year.

I want to ask you noe of my questions again. I want to ask for a new CAQ. if my request refuses, can I still work with my previous CAQ? regardless of the objection option, I want to know my previous CAQ remains valid or not.

Yes, you can work and your present CAQ will be valid until the date of expiry or when you receive a notification from MIFI that they have cancelled your CAQ (shouldn't happen in your case) whichever is earlier.

thank you very much. I just saw that you replied to my question 23 days ago. sorry for the late response.
Now, I have a new offer letter from a college. currently, I am a phd student. my plan is to apply for a new CAQ with the college offer letter. if they accept my CAQ application, I will quite from university and join to college, unless I will continue my PHD.
did you find any problem in this paln? could you please let me know your idea.

May I ask you to give me a reference if you have one? I want just to be ensured. I am concerned if my new request refuses, the previous one becomes invalid too.

Yes you can but you would also have to apply for a new SP since you would be applying for a college now. You might face no problems when applying for a CAQ, but applying for a Study Permit might be an uphill battle since you would have to show why suddenly you're 'downgrading from a graduate course to a college-level one.

CAQ is not a valid document to work, the authorisation to work comes from federal permits issued by the IRCC not by MIFI. Since you would be in Canada (I assume) when you submit a new application for a Study permit you have continued status of your previous conditions issued in your Study Permit.

I think I need just to change DLI. Is it correct?
changing dli is difficult?

Right now, I am in Canada, and study here for a year. My study permit valid for the next 3 years. I only concern about caq.

You will have to apply for a new Study Permit since you're changing the level of studies.
