Hello Everyone,

I have a question if any of the expert can help, I am a PR and recently got married in India in Nov 2021. I cam back in Dec and now applying for Spouse Sposnorship for my wife.
My marriage was arranged we were introduced by parents and were in contact over calls and messages since oct 2020, due to covid i did not got chance to travel until Nov 2021 when flights from canada were resumed.

The question is now while filling up the form, there is a question says Is your Marraiage Arranged , i have hired a consultant , he says to Write No, however it is an arranged marriage and i m not confident of writing as No, can anyone advise if someone has similar concersns and throw some light please.

Your consultant is an idiot. You are right. You should answer "yes". There is nothing wrong with the marriage being arranged.

It's extremely dangerous to misrepresent information in your application. You should answer all questions truthfully. Fire your consultant.

File your own application.

At first I was also hesitant to fill up the spouse application myself, so many documents to gather, so much details to fill. But I started slowly and tried gathering the documents, filled up the application forms one by one. At the end I was able to send the application successfully.

And now we got pre-arrival letter.

You can do it too. If you have any doubts in any form or answers, you can write down an explanation letter with your application.

Hi,

Can you please advise me where to start.

My husband lives in Pakistan and Im a Canadian citizen. We had our Nikah last year in Summer, and it was registered marriage in Pakistan. Our wedding is planned for this year. I will be travelling soon to Pakistan for the wedding.

I wanted to know the following, if you can please kindly assist me:

1. Can i apply for the sponsorship before the wedding, with only Nikah and registered marriage in Pakistan
2. Is it better that I apply for TRV before the sponsorship and if he is granted visitor visa, do the inland application for aponsorship?
3. Can I apply for sponsorship and TRV at the same time before the wedding takes place
4. Is it better to wait for the wedding and apply for sponsorship after the wedding
5. With TRV, can I also apply for the work permit

And the most important is how do i make the application? Do I create an account for my husband on the canada immigration website and apply through there, as if he was applying, or do I need to show the government that Im applying as his representative?

Please help me as Im new to all this and dont know where to start. I dont even know anyone who has done sponsorship and the lawyers cost so much.

I will appreciate all help!!

i cant answer much since im also new to the spouse sponsorship process.

but if you got the official marriage certificate from pakistan, then you can immediately apply for sponsorship (make sure to provide pictures of ceremony, etc..), follow the whole spouse sponsorship guide and fill up all the required forms.

i hope senior members can/will answer to your questions

- Do not apply now. Wait until after the wedding to submit the sponsorship application. Information on how to submit the sponsorship application is here: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/family-sponsorship/spouse-partner-children.html
- He can certainly try applying for the TRV now. Yes, if he can get the TRV approved, he can come to Canada after the wedding and apply for sponsorship inland.
- No, he cannot apply for a work permit with the TRV alone. Assuming he gets the TRV approved, he would travel to Canada after you are married. Once both of you are in Canada, you would submit a spousal sponsorship application inland and also include an open work permit application. It will likely take 6-8 months for the open work permit to be approved.

Its a simple letter.. example:

Date

Letter of Explanation

Dear Visa Officer,

I am writing to inform why I wasn't able to include "this document/ this form" ,etc..

Regards,
<NAME>

You dont have to write a very formal letter, just write truthfully and what is going on. Make sure it is readable and you can explain clearly.
