My school is cambrian college in Ontario and I have a $5000 max coverage on prescription drugs with them. I’m also going to come in wjrh 3 months supply of my drugs and show pof to pay out of pocket for the rest of the months.Moreover, I’ll be switching to Atripla. Would that be good enough?

You can't have your family mail the medication to you. That's illegal.
You need to find out what medication you will buy and use in Canada and show that you have enough funds to cover these costs.

You have checked the plan that the drugs are covered by health insurance? Not all drugs are covered by health plans. Some plans will not and will tell you what drugs are covered. Once in Canada, you need a family physician who will prescribe the medication. Don't know the length of your program or costs but you want to show the funds to pay out of pocket as well as the funds for living expenses.
My program is one year. My father is sponsoring me and he is going to provide necessary documents to proof funds for the medications. I’ll be coming in with a 90 days medication and I’ll be switching to Atripla by Mylan which costs less than $5k. I’ll be submitting the plan and pof next week. Am I good to go?
You have as much information as you can provide for the study permit. If approved, once you get to Canada, you find a Canadian family doctor who can change your prescription. You can’t switch without a prescription.
international students in Ontario are registered for a specific health plan they don’t receive provincial coverage. You may exceed the drug coverage depending on the cost of the drug but you should have a large portion covered. Would suggest looking up the international student drug program at your school.
IRCC and the schools usually wants to see that you won’t put too much demand on the health system and you can absorb any extra costs. In some areas of Canada access To healthcare is already very strained. The school health plan won’t cover you once you graduate and Ontario doesn’t have a pharmacare program for adults.
Hi I also have some questions. As Viasta have posted, the medicine we are currently using (Acriptega: Dolutegravir, Lamivudine, Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate) is not available in Canada so we have to switch to other types of ARV which is provided in Canada. However, the closest medicine to Acriptega in Canada (Triumeq or Atripla) is not available in our countries (in my case: Vietnam). So what should I do everyone? Should I continue with Acriptega until I go to Canada or switch to the closest medicine so that my visa plan would be more cohesive? Do you know any medication that is similar to Acriptega in Canada? There is often a slight mark-up on the formulary drug cost but yes that this the price your pharmacy will charge.

Thank you. But aren't you afraid it would affect your viral load? Acriptega is much stronger than Atripla. I have discussed with my doctor about switching back to something similar with Atripla so my plan would be more coherent.
Agree that you should always discuss with your doctor when it comes to switching medications.
