“Please be advised that due to a technical error, your citizenship test is CANCELLED and a new one will be created today. On Thursday you will receive another invitation to complete the online test with a NEW START DATE of January 31, 2022.”

I think the delay in background check depend on which country you are form origionally, for example if you are from an unstable musilm country like sudan, yemen, syria, iraq , libya , somalia then expect a looooooong delay ( unfortunately , I am)

If you are from a relatively stable muslim country then it will be longer but no significant delays.

This is the only explanation , Ive seen it with many from those countries. It is not related to the person specific background , as long as you are from those countries then you would be treated that waY for security reasons.

This is not the situation. My family applied same day May 13 with our friend. We are of same nationality. Our AOR was few days apart (theirs July 2 and ours July 6). Rhey took the Oath on Friday Jan 21 while I only got a ghost update on Aug 31 ‍‍

At least they are not ignoring the issue. Although I will forget everything I have "studied" by then lol.

You will get a 'notice to appear' for test. After test, within few week / months all other activities will be completed.
Some people get passport or fingerprint request, but not everyone.

Once all steps are completed, you need to wait for oath invitation.

As far as I have seen, timelines are case-by-case, and do not really follow a pattern.

Had my citizenship oath today. I can feel myself even more close to Canada now.

It took 90 minutes in total. The event was smooth and very well managed. Kudos to the IRCC Mississauga office. Signed the oath form electronically, and sent it promptly.
