I am currently enrolled in a 1 year program (8 months) which will end in April and my 2nd course will start in September and my study permit will expire in September so I wanted to know that from my May to August can I work full time on my current study permit or will I need new permit before my break starts to work full time? Thanks in advance!

I don't think you'll be able to work from May to August even if you apply for a new study permit since your new course begins in Sept. But you should get a second opinion from someone else.

Why? Won't it be considered as an official break?
Because your course will end in April. Once your course ends or your study permit expires (whichever is earlier) your status as a student expires.

Yes but I already have the offer of the new course plus I'll be filing for an extension before my current course ends.

Having an offer doesn't matter. You are not on a scheduled break between May and August. You can only work if you are registered full time as a student, which you won't be in that period of time.

Then it makes sense to apply for your SP Ext within this week and then applying for a new one again.

Between April and September is about 150 days, which is the maximum cusp IRCC allows student to work if transitioning between 2 programs.

There could be some wiggle room for you to work, depending on when you get your completion certificate for your completed program (you can work full time until you get the confirmation of completion).

If by the time you get your completion letter, you still have a valid study permit and have registered/paid tuition fee at your new DLI, you might be able to continue working until you start classes (you absolutely have to then start classes in Sept).

I am already going to pay 1 sem fee by this week and file for an extension by next week, and my current SP will expire on Sept 30th.

I'm assuming:
1. You will be applying for an extension with the LOA from your new DLI.
2. Your current SP allows you to work off campus
3. Your next program is full time.

If yes to all above, that should work.

Yup all 3 are yes! Thankyou so much.
