Hello everyone,
I made an application for a visitors record and PR (under spousal sponsorship) at the same time in July 2021. I got a positive response that my request for extension had been approved in Nov 2021, and also a request to pay my Permanent Residency Fee in Nov 2021. Since I had paid my fees in my application in July, I sent them proof of payment. My spouse is a PR

My dilema is this, my extension was given for just 2 months. However since my PR application seems to be going well, I would like to stay with my spouse for the next 3 months until my PR comes out. Can I request for another extension for 6months or 1 year? As I await for my PR to come out? From reading the comments on Request for Passport, it takes 45days to 3 months for them to ask for passport, after request for permanent residency fee has been made. So I am positive that my PPR will come in the next 2 months (By March 2022).

Has anyone ever extended their stay two or three times as they await for their PR to mature?

Once PR application is acknowledged, aren't you under "implied status"? Does one need to apply for visitor visa extension? Curious to know answers from others as I also have similar situation.

As long as someone applied inland and included an OWP application, then yes. The spousal sponsorship application alone does not grant implied status. Needs to be accompanied by an OWP.

If someone applied outland or if they applied inland without an OWP, they aren't under implied status.

So the details of the situation matter.

Ah!! Sorry. I should not have said similar situation then. I applied for sponsorship of my dependent child who is currently on visitor visa with me in Canada. His PR acknowledgement was received few days back. However, I applied for his extension beforehand and I was under impression that PR acknowledgement means implied status. Is my understanding correct?

Your child does not have implied status due to the PR application / AOR. You need to keep extending your child's visitor status while the application is being processed to keep their status legal in Canada.

They have implied status.
With my Visitors Record, it gives a definite date by which to leave Canada, even if I have a payment of resident fee letter contained in the acknolwegdment for PR. So I am applying for an extension as I wait for the "golden letter" (PPRequest). Which is stronger, an implied status or a letter of PR acknowledgment?

I'm sorry. I don't understand what you mean by "which is stronger".
