Canadian Passport - Mail-In Application Timelines

Hello,
I sent my adult passport application through Xpresspost (Canada Post) to the address, Passport Program Canada Gatineau, QC K1A 0G3. Several days later, the mail tracking shows that it was delivered to "Missasauga, Ontario". Is anybody else experiencing this?

I sent mine on Jan 13,2022 via Canada Post,
Delivered to Ottawa Ontario on Jan 18,2022 as per tracker.
Did chat with Canada Post. The agent confirmed it delivered to Quebec Office..
and Tracker is wrong.

As I understood it, the original document requirement is only for proof of citizenship, not proof of parentage. Proof of citizenship can be either the citizenship certificate, or birth certificate issued by the Canadian province the child was born in, and whichever of these two docs you pick, it needs to be the original. The proof of parentage is not specifically mentioned as original, and it can be a birth certificate issued by either a Canadian province or by a foreign country, depending on where the child was born.

You may be right. So, you sent citizenship certificate for the kids? I would just call the helpline to clarify that it's not a blocker. thanks

Yes i have sent the original for citizenship certificate.
Today I saw I have been charged for the two kids 2x57.

When they charge your credit card, does it mean that everything is ok? Or there is still a possibility that the applications might be rejected.

Yes that what I understood but I was not 100% sure. It did not specifically specify a photocopy or original.
The copy of birth certificate was for the proof of parentage.

Hello, we have similar timelines. I have been charged yesterday for 2 adults + today for the two kids.
Applications delivered on the 30th of Dec 2021.
Can you please let me know when you get your passport please?

Guys, can you please help me to undestand few points in application:
- They do need original of citizensihp certificate (which is fine).
- They do not need original of other IDs (because month without DL can be tough)?
-So, guarantor would be required to sign all copies of documents, right?

Correct original of Citizenship certificat mandatory and if you make a copy of your DL the guarantor need to sign it and date it along with the first page of the paper application and one photo and write this is a true likeness of …..

Oh wow thank you for the amazing info!! Did you apply for urgent, express or regular? The thing I’m trying to understand is, I have flight coming on the February 22-23 and I wanna apply for the express one, but it says express processing is 2-9 business days so I’m wondering if there is any criteria like do I need to apply exactly 9 business days before my flight? You know what I mean?

My flight is Feb. 10. I don’t think you need it urgently but if you have extra money to spend that’s fine too. You can ask the IRCC staff whether you need it urgently when you apply it in person. A flight ticket shall be enough.

oh dear, you have such a short time left, if I was in your place I would only opt for in person application as mail in applications can take 1-1.5 month.

My case Timeline is :
Application sent by mail Canada post express to Gatineau, QC- Jan 10, 2022
Application received: Jan 12, 2022
Credit card charged: still awaiting
Passport received and citizenship certificate: Awaiting

1: Yes, you can mail all applications in one envelope. I had put each individual application in a separate packet and then labeled it. Then I had put all these separate packets into one envelope and that’s it.

I got a confirmation yesterday that our applications are complete and we should get our passports soon.

2: in my case, I used the same guarantor and references but I see no reason why anyone cannot use different (as long as each of the guarantor and reference that you use qualify respective requirements).

3: for the sake of extra caution, I had both photos stamped by the photo guy and signed by the guarantor. I didn’t want to take a risk of having applications returned back to us.

I don’t think the application is rejected unless there is any false information provided deliberately. I believe they will contact if they need further information. My credit card charged today for my kid’s application.
