Does anyone have any idea how long it takes to process security? Am I close?

Should I be excited? Is this going to take another 5 months?

Looks like that you are not in Edmonton... What was your last status? I mean before this update? Also, did you get a GU today or yesterday?

If it is a recent update then you are well on your way to PPR. 1-2 weeks tops.

The first and only GU I received was on December 29th. I wasn't able to reach IRCC before today, I ordered GCMS notes but they've been delayed by both the IRCC and CBSA. I was able to get through to IRCC today thanks to your calling tip. This is the first update on my application I've received.

Upon learning that I was so close I got really excited, that excitement has turned into anxiety as I realized I could still be 6 months away from approval. I look at all of the people who have been waiting since May, and it really destroys all the hope I have of being getting PR in the next couple of months.

Well since I do not have any baseline to know your progress, I can say that good thing about your application is that it is in a VO known for its fast processing and the fact that you are at the final stage of your application.

Now you mentioned that you had a GU in December... it could be due to any number of things. It could be your eligibility finally passing. It could be just change of VO. It could be anything. Assuming it was a progress, then your security is in process for 2 weeks. I will say you are very close to PPR.

If it lingers for 1-1.5 months then you are in security screening... and that is not good at all.

Thank you for the guidance, being able to form an expectation of what could be on the horizon has calmed my anxiety. I have a feeling the GU was a reflection of the changes in my application status'. I would assume that the security process would be quick for me, given my lack of international travel and my home country was the USA for the last 18 years but who the f*ck knows at this point. There are still plenty of people in May who have not been approved.

The lack of movement (people declaring they got ecopr) in the August thread and this thread is depressing a.f. I at least had hope when other people were getting approved. The entire process is a joke, it is proof that the process is broken when your VO determines how long it takes to approve your application, it takes months for government agencies to communicate, it takes months to get GCMS notes if you EVER receive them, I have to find out in an online forum what's next for my application, and an entire government agency has no accountability or oversight.

No one knows. There is some kind of "desk" that works on RCMP clearance in this VO. We know nothing about what is happening at that desk. We know nothing about security clearance. Was it started? Is it started now? The status and reality of application are often divergent. So no one knows what is going on there. Its just like that, you wait with no insight in what is delaying the process.

No update ever since.
My question is, if I need to travel to India before I get my ecopr then do I need to inform IRCC? What if I get my portal request and ecopr while I am in India? Is that going to effect my processing time at all?

Seriously it is a mysterious process. Nobody knows what happens and why it happens. I guess the whole pending applications from this thread got stuck somewhere. Not sure why they don't update the latest status of the application in the portal. They only have developed that process.

Have not heard any good news since Jan 1, except 1 or 2. Now I am worried. 137 days over, 43 days more to touch 180 days.
Let's hope for the best.

And then IRCC will guide you with further process. another point the agent said was - If CoPR expires, you can request for one when you return to Canada but there is no SLA on processing time.

Hi all!

We got our eCOPRs last week, but we're still encountering errors in MyCIC:

1) We can't link our PR card applications to MyCIC. The error message shown is that no matching application can be found.
2) In the top, the "Latest Update" field keeps changing between:

1. "January 11, 2022: your application was approved"
2. "December 15, 2021: your background check was completed"

This has been going on for a few days, now. Even during the weekend.

Has this happened to anyone else?

The problem would be with birth place. The value you received in ecopr may not work. Sometimes you will have to search with what you have in passport will work. Place of birth sometimes just work with city, some times city + state, sometimes you will have include comma like in passport. Sometimes it works with out comma.

I have a sneaking suspicion a lot of the people who were received PR had submitted a TR to PR application that had already been partially processed and the IRCC just used piggybacked off of that work.

August also appears to be paused too. Based on forum activity, it looks like July has had some progress made.
