Hi All, my uncle got his PR after being conventional refugee. He applied for refugee status after coming to Canada. His parents are in hospital and he wants to go see them.
Will he get into any troubles if he comes back to Canada? Like will Canadian Border Service Agent deny his entry if they found out that he went to his home country.
He got his PR in 2008.
Situation on his home country got better and now wants to go see his parents.

Thank you all for your support.

If he travels to his home country, he needs to be prepared for the possibility that his PR status will be revoked and Canadian citizenship refused.

It's only safe to travel back to the home country as a refugee after citizenship. Is there a reason he hasn't become a Canadian citizen yet given he's been a PR since 2008?

He still carries his home country passport and travelled to other countries in past. So he can have his home country's passport but cannot travel to home country?

That's right. He cannot travel to his home country without putting his PR status at risk.

If he wants the ability to travel to his home country, he needs to become a Canadian citizen.

Got it. Thank you.
One more question.
Can his children travel to home country if he sponsored them after getting PR? They are still using home country passport and have PR.
Thanks!!

I believe they can travel to the home country but I'm not sure about using the home country passport. Wait for others to respond.

They really need to think about getting citizenship in Canada. There are risks involved in remaining a PR long term.

The children are not the ones claiming persecution so therefore there is no issue of reavailment. Even if the children use the home country passport, the children had no persecution to the home country. So in my opinion, therefore children should have no issue visiting home country on home country passport. But you can consult multiple lawyers and see if they all say the same thing.

He’s at risk of cessation for using his home passport to travel to any country
