I'm a permanent resident of Canada currently living in India and planning to get married in April 2022. My Fiance is in India. Is it possible to apply for Spousal Sponsorship after we get married and come to Canada for a month to apply and then travel back to India for some time?

Please, can someone explain how security checks work with this scenario:

When my spousal application was transferred to my local office in March, the background check read "we are processing your background check. We will let you know if we need more information". Later on probably when they requested for additional document in July or when my eCAS changed to "In process" in August, background check went back to "we are processing your application, we will let you know when your background check starts".
Also, on getting my GCMS notes, security has not started but Info sharing is complete and I have NRT. I'm guessing there's a link between info sharing and security checks.

The question now is that, is it possible that security hasn't started at all? Or they don't just update some accounts until everything is done?
Security can be done at anytime and it's your background check involving many agencies such as CSIS, INTERPOL etc with several security agencies in 4 different countries(USA,AUSTRALIA, ENGLAND and NEW ZEALAND(These countries shares the same immigration trends and depends on each other for help) and it runs through your info sharing with these countries and the NRT you saw meant No Reportable Trace....They share the information to find out if the principal applicant has had any security issues and has come up in any of these countries so NRT confirms they've not traced any security red flag and so you are safe....Is just that, it's on an officers discretion to determine when everything is done.....But from the look of things, it shows finished if all the 4 countries have presented their information about the applicant and have been exonerated from every security issue....When they finish your security, your background is complete!! It is very involving

You need to be living in Canada when you submit the spousal sponsorship application and then you need to continue living in Canada while the application is processed.

You can do a small number of short trips outside of Canada (e.g. 2-3 weeks). But you need to be primarily living in Canada throughout the processing of the application.

You are not a citizen so you can't be living outside Canada for such a long time and don't put yourself into any bad condition because anytime you leave and return to Canada. Canada boarder service agency(CBSA) get all your information of your coming ins and going outs and IRCC gets it automatically and during file processing, it could affect you spouse application and try to fulfill the condition of your PR because one of the condition is to be living in the country for at least 1092 days because you may want to apply for citizenship so you don't want anything to deny you of your application. Even when you become a citizen and wants to sponsor, you must give the assurance that you would return to Canada immediately the sponsored person is granted PR...Play the game safe!!

Hello group.

Apply for spousal sponsorship on 10/16/2020 outside of Canada. I already had my medical exams done and I passed them on 12/16/2021. Is there anyone in this group who is waiting as long as I am?

Thanks a lot.
Apply for GSMC note to know where you are at!! And raise a webform of say concerns to your regional centre(Visa office)

Well, I heard they don't disclose everything. People who have ordered for more than 1 GCMS note complains it's all not the same. Example: First GCMS note says security checks completed but info sharing has not started. But next GCMS note tells you security checks started..... You can link up with @legalfalcon for more information. But what I've provided is what I read on this forum.
Thank you

Hi guys I am applying for my husband's visitor visa extension and just wondering what I should put under " Have you previously applied to enter or remain in Canada ?" Will this be Yes as my husband already applied for visitor visa and got approved??

2. Where in the application should I mention that we applied for his PR under Family sponsorship category?

P.S: We applied for his spousal PR too. Please guide. Thank you

am an inland PR and my fiancee is in India- can we apply for a visit visa for her before or post marraige?

Many Thanks in advance :)
Hi, We applied before marriage and I sent a webform to process under "Family Reunion". Mine took 9 months but I heard they are approving fast now in the new portal. Thank you

Hello guys,
Looking to gather documents for country specific requirement and came across this:

Nepal – Instruction(s) for documents
  • Birth certificates issued in this country:If a birth is registered late, include the original baptism certificate and other original documents establishing identity such as:
    • Old school records (Fifth class, Middle standard and Matriculation/secondary school certificate), and
    • Voter's ID card.
  • For divorces obtained in this country, please submit a complete divorce petition, a judgment and a Final divorce decree.
Since my spouses Birth certificate is registered late do I need to submit both Old School record(which I have multiple of) and Voter's ID card or can I just submit the original school certificate with birthdate?

Hello all I hope all is well with you guys. I'm looking for some insight into this.

Applied March 2021 for spousal visa
April 2021 application received
April 2021 biometrics request
August 2021 request for medical
November 2021 - request for laundry list of docs:
1) marriage certificate (sent already March 2021)
2) schedule A (sent already March 2021)
3) supplementary info, your travels (sent already March 2021)
4) police certificate (sent already March 2021)
5) more photos of wedding etc. And ongoing communication proof.

The requested docs on November 2021 email I sent all of them within a week. I have a feeling that they lost my file? Anyways it was sent.

My question is, did this happen to anyone else as well? And how long do you think the process will take from here if anyone has similar experience. Thanks a lot I really do appreciate it.
Yes, I was asked to submit additional photos in October 2021 and then no updates other than Medical cleared in Dec 3rd

Are you a Canadian Citizen or PR? I'm also thinking of applying for sponsorship while being outside Canada. I'm PR and currently outside Canada.
