Hello All,

I went to Canada in 2019 to receive my PR and stayed there a month odd and haven't been there since. I was originally planning to move in 2020 but due to COVID the plans got cancelled. Technically from Mar of 2022 I will have to stay there for 2 years to satisfy my PR residency requirements / not risk losing my PR, meaning I have to move there by March. Due to personal reasons it is difficult for me to move right now and would preferably like an extension of 6 months odd.
Is anyone aware of CIC relaxing the PR residency requirements (2 years out of 5) in these COVID times ? Appreciate any advise or experience of anyone on how I can approach CIC to provide an extension if possible at all.

Thank you.

IRCC has not made any announcements about relaxing the residency requirements due to COVID. The same 2 out of 5 year obligation is still in place. There is no means for requesting an extension due to COVID.
