Not quite at my 1 years experience for CEC profile - common law help

Hello all,

I have come across this issue a lot on the forum. However, I have not seen an example that replicates my exact situation regarding being a common law partner.

I will be applying for CEC express entry as a common law partner on my girlfriends application. She has over 1 years experience already. The problem I have is, I started my job on the 18th January and We are looking to get into the pool today (4th January). So, although I am 2 weeks away from getting the full 1 years experience, the experience is calculated monthly. Therefore, even though I’m 2 weeks away, our application has calculated our points to include a years experience for me

What is my best option?

To enter the pool and do not include my current canadian work experience, then update our profile on the 18th January to include my canadian experience (this would give us 475 points now, then 480 points ao I am able to accept a ITA if I receive it before the 18th January.

OR

Enter the pool now and decline any ITA until the 18th January.

Normally I would just wait until the 18th to apply. However, our IEC work permit expires on March 1st so we need an invitation ASAP to keep us in our jobs in Canada.

Thanks,

James

you can get into the pool even if your ex is not 1 year. However, submit your profile after ITA only when 1 yr is complete, that is after jan18.

Enter the pool now. If there happens to be a draw and you receive ITA before Jan 18th, then just wait until after Jan 18th to submit your complete application.

Be aware that there hasn't been a CEC draw since September. So have a plan B in case there's no draw by March 1st.

What your weekly hours? If it’s, say, 35 per week, you probably already have 1-year equivalent. Then just enter the pool.

If you do need to hold until Jan 18, consider the possible cutoffs that can happen in this period.
CEC-only draws are probably going to be sub-475.
All program draws are almost certainly going to be above 480, unless we see a megadraw (never happed afaik with all-program).
So those extra 5 points is unlikely to matter by Jan 18. There can be at most one draw.
