I have a work permit and have to return to canada next week. I read the following on Canada;s website:

Passengers eligible to enter Canada and travelling on those flights must:

  • obtain a pre-departure negative COVID-19 molecular test result from the Genestrings Laboratory, located above the metro station in the Airport Connect Building (ACB) at the Indira Gandhi International Airport
  • perform this test within 18 hours before their scheduled departure
  • present the test report with a QR code issued by this laboratory to the air operator before boarding
Alternatively, travellers who have previously tested positive for COVID-19 can present a positive molecular test issued by a certified laboratory in India. The date of collection must have been between 14 and 180 days before their scheduled departure to Canada.

Just want to confirm a few things from someone who has travelled recently.

1. What if the results are not available by the time I fly.
2. I effectively need to get to the airport 18 hours early, don;t I.
3. How are results delivered from the test?

1. You won't be allowed to board the plane.
2. The test has to be performed within 18 hours of your flight. You need to find out how long it takes to get the results.
3. Email.

Don't book via London if you don't have a UK visa. British Airways denied boarding for me (and many others who were similarly misinformed while booking) saying that, due to recent changes, testing counter is outside immigration check and visa is needed. Dubai is easier route, in my case.

Dubai had free testing inside airport upon arrival. Results are available within 2 hours but layover of over 6 hours is recommended. Qatar has free visa on arrival for Indians and many hotels in Doha do tests for a charge.call hotel and find out if Qatar route is cheaper for you. In either case, allow for sufficient layover.

You need to get testing done at Delhi airport if you come to Canada directly. No other place is valid. If you visit via third country, you need to get testing done at the country of transit.
rapid PCR testing available at the Delhi airport and is valid (results in one hr)
