Hello everyone,

I hope someone can help me with my case. I've contacted lawyers and there were not helpful at all.

When I applied for Post Graduate Work Permit on August 16, 2019, my passport was valid for only 9 months. Therefore, I was granted PGWP for 6 months ending on May 15, 2020. On December 13, 2019, I flew to Qatar to renew my passport from the Sudanese embassy in Doha, Qatar. It took about two months to process the new passport, and I received it by mid of February. My passport has been reissued for 5 years. While I was preparing to apply for a new VISA to fly to Canada and renew my PGWP, all the Canada visa application centers in Qatar were closed from March to July due to the COVID-19 situation. Hence, I couldn’t renew my VISA and fly to Canada to apply for PGWP renewal before its expiry date. I had to apply online after its expiry date in June 2020 and I got the refusal six months later. This is what is said in the correspondence letter that I received:

I am refusing your application on the following grounds:

201 (1) A foreign national may apply for the renewal of their work permit if

(a) the application is made before their work permit expires.

You are not eligible for restoration of status under the current COVID-19 public policy as you are not in Canada.

Now with the ease of the travel restriction, do you think I have a chance to restore my PGWP?

You can't apply to extend your PGWP since it has already expired. You would need to submit an application for a new work permit / new PGWP and request the remaining duration of your PGWP. I have no idea if IRCC will consider your application or not.

oh okay, thank you. Do I need to submit a medical examination along with it?
