Passport application by mail

Hello team.
anyone applied for passport by mail? i am hesitating to apply by mail as i am afraid from the Canada post bad service as the package is valuable including original certificate if i send it by courier like by fedex or DHL i can relax a bit but when they send it back with Canada post do they issue a tracking number for the package so i can track it?

This is because of the recent changes in the service Canada office they are not allowing walk in anymore and only by appointments and appointments can be made only if the travel is in the next 25 days otherwise mail the application.

So let me know your thoughts? take it or leave it? by mail. i have very very very very bad experiences with Canada post

I applied for my passport via mail just fine.

They will send the passport and citizenship certificate back with Xpresspost; however, you have to request for the tracking numbers by calling or through the web form; they are not issued automatically to all applicants.

Perhaps once you have the tracking number, you can change the delivery to get it picked up at the post office?

How long did it take you to receive your passport after application?

Also, is there a way we can check the progress of the passport application other than calling in? (it seems that there is always a 30min wait..)

I got it in about 1 month, but that was much earlier this year.

If you don't want to call, you can also send an inquiry, also in the same link I shared. There is no online portal or tracker for passport applications, if that's what you were asking.
