"Additional information required" yet received no email

My status has an update stating that a letter or email has been sent asking for some additional information. However, I did not receive anything (I checked my spam folder as well). Did this happen to anyone else? What kind of information is usually requested?

When was the update? There is a time between when it appears on the portal and when you actually receive it. This maybe passports pages request.
