Hi Everyone,

Can anyone please help in the below situation.

I have submitted my Express entry PR application on 22nd October 2018 and apart from medical which was approved on 23rd November 2018, I haven't received any updates in my account. Recently on 21st April 2019, I got married and same was registered under marriage act on 20th May 2019 ( In a month ).

1) How can I inform Canada immigration regarding the change in my marital status.
2) How much extra time will they take to process my wife application
3) Will my CRS points will be recalculated and what all documents will be required for adding my wife in my current PR application.

Early response will be highly appreciated.

Thanks,

Hey Anirudh,

First of all congrats to you for a new life. Secondly, It will be a better option if you inform the CIC right now without making any delay, because change in the martial status is a big deal if you've applied earlier as a single applicant.

1. If you would've ordered the GCMS notes previously, you would be knowing about your current Visa Office. So, contact the respective VO on their given mail address and mention each and everything.

2. It will cost you another 2-3 months, but it is much less than the waiting and time for sponsoring your spouse which takes 8-12 months.

3. Your VO will send you an application form I guess, which you gonna need to fill and also you will be requested to submit the documents for your wife. It includes: passport, marriage certificate, eca of the spouse, medicals, work experience (optional), pof etc.

Hope it clarifies your doubts. For more details search for the similar threads, there are plenty of the applicants who went through the same face.

Thanks for the reply,

Quick question, I haven’t ordered GCMS notes and doesn’t know my current visa office. In that case what should I do ?
What mode should I take to inform CIC? Through web form or email ? If email then which one ? Thanks

Thanks,
1. You can raise a webform
2. It will add 3-5 months, your spouse will under go all the stages except eligibility.
3. No, after e-APR if you add your spouse it will have no effect.
Suggest you to order the notes and atleast check what is going on with your eligibility.

NOTE- You should be married after you submitted your documents.

Hi @legalfalcon ,

Does the above list still apply in 2021?
Do we need to show more proof of funds when we add spouse i.e. the proof of funds for 2 people after marriage?

Hi @legalfalcon,

please does one need to wait for IRCC to request those documents for adding a spouse? Or should the documents be sent to IRCC without them having to ask?
You can send them the above documents on your own too.

Hi @legalfalcon,

Please I have a question with regards to how to send the required IMM forms/supporting docs to IRCC for including a spouse to my PR application. Currently, IRCC has not sent an email to request for any IMM forms/supporting docs for my spouse although I’ve gotten some of them ready (based on what I’ve seen them ask other people who intend to add their spouses after AOR). I intend to submit these forms and documents via their webform but the challenge I’m currently faced with is how to do this. The webform only accepts a maximum of 3.5 MB for multiple files and all of the IMM forms and supporting docs are more than 2MB each (I have 5 IMM forms and about 6 other supporting documents) . If I’m to submit them via webform, does this mean I’ll have to send multiple webforms until I’m able to send all the files? Or is there a more efficient means of doing this? I’ve thought of compressing the files but I’m afraid it’ll adversely affect the file quality significantly such that the file contents become unreadable.

Please let me know.

Thank you. @legalfalcon

@EstherNnnanna Cheers, I am on the same boat. Let me give some updates about my case, maybe it could help. I notified through IRCC about webform that my marital status changed and got a response to upload my documents for my query. However, after a month I got a request letter through and status changed to action required to upload all documents for my spouse. I am facing the same challenge like you, file size is large and not able to upload both in IRCC portal(4MB just 1 file option) as well as webform(multiple files total of 3.5MB). I managed to compress it to a decent size and uploaded it for transmission now since I got no other choice.
