How can I prove that I have strong ties back home?

Hello! I applied for a TRV in June 2020, Still no answer. This Monday I'll be reapplying with a certified consultant/representative.

My case is a little complicated so any suggestions would be AMAZING.

My declared common law partner went to Canada with a TRV under heart - wrenching circumstances in 2021. Her sister passed away and she applied as a refugee to stay with her nephews and parents whom are all Canadians. The one year memorial of my sister in law is coming up in Jan 2022, and they are inviting me to it for emotional and mental support purposes. We had to grief separately and they are emphasizing the importance of us being together as a a family even if its for a short visit from my end.

My partner and I have also booked a wedding ceremony on Feb 11 2022 in a church to solidify our union and bring a little joy after this traumatic experience. (There's proof of all of that in the application).

I have a steady job since 2015 in Lebanon, my boss has mentioned that I play an integral role in the company and signed off my annual leave for 44 days. I also have an enrollment letter for a uni diploma program which starts in March 2022. I also have an apartment lease that's signed by a mayor till 2023. My mother and father / family are in Lebanon and I mentioned the importance of being there for them especially after my dad is planning on retiring and will be needing my help with our family business.

I have been super honest and upfront about the entire ordeal but I'm EXTREMELY worried that they would think that I would do the same thing my partner did and break my TRV rules which I certainly don't plan on doing. I just need the TRV to be able to see my partner every year because the distance is killing us.

Is there any additional info or things I should add to prove that I have strong ties back home? Please help me. Thank you so much.

Unfortunately you will likely have an uphill battle getting the TRV approved due to the fact that your common law partner has applied for refugee status in Canada. Yes, it's quite possible IRCC will think you may do the same. Because of this, your chances of approval are on the low side. But this doesn't mean you shouldn't try.

- The fact you plan to get married in Canada further weakens your application unfortunately and will make it much more likely that IRCC will assume you have plans on remaining in Canada long term.
- How much do you have in savings approximately that you plan to show to support your trip and also demonstrate ties?
- Do you have previous travel to countries requiring visas such as the US, UK, etc.? If so, show that, this will strengthen your application.
- Can you provide evidence that you have already paid the fees for the education you plan to start March 2022? Enrolling alone isn't very strong evidence. You can strengthen this by paying fees for the full semester in advance and including proof of this.
- What is the status of your partner's refugee application?

Thank you for the reply! I can’t tell you how much I appreciate that.

- My consultant recommended the marriage as a way to prove that our union is for real and we definitely love to solidify our union. Now it’s make me question whether you’re right. I have a strange feeling they’re gonna assume that I plan to stay there

- Unfortunately due to strict work obligations I haven’t traveled much other than to Dubai.

- I can pay for the entire semester from now in order to prove to them that’s a good idea. Thank you.

- I have an account balance of 10,000$ and my partner has 30,000$.

- Her status now is in progress she received her work permit.

Im mortified they’re going to reject it due to home ties. I’m an emotional wreck without her. Does IRCC not expect that there are life situations and having to see my partner once a year will really be beneficial for us? Can they reject a visit visa of merely wanting to see my partner?

My opinion is that including the plan to get married really weakens your application. You have to try to look at things from IRCC's perspective, not your own. Yes, I agree this serves as further evidence your relationship is real. However then all the more reason to think you will remain in Canada and not return home. This serves as evidence that your ties to Canada are stronger than your ties to your home country. You need to focus on evidence that strengthens ties to your home country.

It's not about whether being apart from your partner is beneficial or not (it's obviously not). Again, you need to look at things from IRCC's percpective and not your own. You have to take the emotion out. They are assessing you based on your profile and how likely you are or are not to follow immigration rules. Here's how this looks:
- You have a partner who used a TRV to travel to Canada and then claim refugee status in Canada
- You want to see this partner and get married
- You have limited previous travel
- You live in a country that is unstable / not economically strong and you are likely wanting to find a way out of that situation

I know this isn't what you want to hear, but this is what you have to overcome. I would recommend dropping the marriage bit (hopefully this wasn't mentioned in your previous application). Focus as much as possible on ties to your home country. Minimize ties to Canada. You are trying to prove you are only coming for a visit and have no plans to stay long term.

- You want to see this partner and get married
- You have limited previous travel
