Done with oath on Nov 2nd. I sent the form right after the ceremony and no one contacted me saying they didn't get it. My application is still in progress though. Is it normal or should I call? Or send webform? May2020 applicant

Highly unlikely that you will get everything done before December 24th. My oath was on November 13 (Mississauga office) and I needed to be in the States by November 22. I requested that the citizenship certificate be expedited, to which the officer responded that travel is not a valid reason to express mail the citizenship certificate. I told him that I needed to drive my wife for her follow-up appointment. The officer told me to send an explanation in the email, which I did right away - I sent a long email explaining my situation with supporting documents, but guess what.. I still haven't received the citizenship certificate after 10 days. Sorry for the bad news but will suggest rescheduling your trip and not relying on the citizenship certificate to be there on time. Also, factor in the holiday season so IRCC might be short-staffed.

On the other hand, if I reschedule the oath, does anyone know if that means another 4-5 months' wait? Or are reschedules faster?

I am not sure about oath reschedule time frame. Also, just remembered that I specifically asked the officer if there is a pickup location where I can pick up my citizenship certificate but he said that they do not have this option as of yet.

You don't get the confirmation receipt when you send the oath form so you are good. Maybe you should call and inquire about the status of your application which is showing In progress as mine changed to Closed after 2 days (oath was on Nov. 13 - Mississauga office).

There is a Return to email on the oath form where you need to send the form to. Is the one you mentioned above the same email address?

The officer told me that I could also reply to the oath invite email I received for the ceremony (which was the same email address as Return to on the oath form).

Check if you put another e-mail as Cc. I think someone did this and it caused the e-mail not to be processed.

Excited to report that I received my letter with Zoom details just now! My oath will be on the 14th. I've updated the spreadsheet.

Portal still says Oath ceremony in progress.

Portal got updated a day later (Nov 25) and says Application Closed: You are now a Canadian Citizen.

Excited to report that I received my letter with Zoom details just now! My oath will be on the 14th. I've updated the spreadsheet.

Congrats! I know you're in Calgary too. I got my certificate exactly 14 business days from the oath

I will try and get it expedited so I can see my parents for Christmas, but if not, it's good to know what kind of timeline I'm looking at. Thank you!

The online application tracker was updated today... The ceremony is set for Nov 17th, I cannot wait for that day.. wow, it has been quite a journey and this forum really helped me through it, I have a feeling that things will get moving faster for all of us and we will all be celebrating our citizenship real soon.

Ceremony completed Nov 17th, I asked the rep if they can expedite sending my cert as I want to see my parents she asked if I booked my flight.. I said no..she said she will add a note but cannot promise it will be delivered sooner and the standard duration is 4 weeks.. a week later I found my cert in my mailbox .. next step passport!!

  • how to attend the ceremony
  • what documents you have to present
• The notice you’ll receive is the official confirmation of the appointment. If you haven’t received the notice by the date of the scheduled appointment, contact us.

My app was received on Mar 19 2020, it will be exactly 2 years but I am happy that the wait will end finally. Good luck everyone!
