I applied for a study permit from Singapore together with a visitor visa for a dependent child. I showed ties back both for Singapore and India.
1. For Singapore: mentioned that my employer has allowed sabbatical/ study leave. No supporting document attached from employer for this. Only pay stubs and a current letter of employment stating my designation, date of joining, current salary.
2. For India: Mentioned property (self) to be used as my retirement home and mentioned about parents still living in India.

I also mentioned about the growing market and job opportunities back in APAC region related to my Master's programme, and that I would love to stay close to my parents whether in Singapore or in India.

Refer this thread for the questions that should be addressed in your SOP. https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/threads/mature-student-visa-40-years-of-age.749317/post-9804715

Hope this helps. All the best.
Thanks for your detailed response.
By the way, if we plan to bring our family along with us, is it better to mention in SOP that our family also will be accompanying along with me? My doubt is in SOP is it we need to mention the details of who all will be coming with me or not.

Help to share your knowledge on this. Thanks again.

Hi everyone! Newbie here and would like to know your thoughts.
I submitted my application online on 17 september for may 2022 intake. Its been more than 2 months and i have not received any update since. I have done biometrics in 2020 for my tourist visa application. I am worried about my application. The waiting is excruciating.

Applied for a study permit along with a spouse open work permit from Singapore. Applied first of October, and the latest update is states both my spouse and I cleared the medical. However, there is no further update after this. It has been over seven weeks and the status for the study permit review of eligibility says "Your application is in progress. We will send you a message when we start reviewing your eligibility."

is this normal? does this usually takes this much time?

Hi, I applied for a student permit (Winter 2022) and a spousal open work permit from Singapore. My timeline is as follows:

Online Application : September 25, 2021
Biometrics : September 28, 2021 Completed.
Review of eligibility : Your application is in progress. We will send you a message when we start reviewing your eligibility.
Review of medical results : You do not need a medical exam. We will send you a message if this changes.
Final decision : Your application is in progress. We will send you a message once the final decision has been made.
Did not get any medical requests yet. Haven't heard from IRCC for more than 7 weeks. Is there anyone in the same boat? What is the average estimated processing times for SP and SOWP from Singapore?

OK, I have not done the medical yet. I mentioned that I need to do the medical since I am from Singapore, so I am waiting to hear from them. and I thought they will request if needed. But no update yet. Even the review of eligibility has not started my case.

I am in the same boat as you are. For Singapore, the average time says four to eight weeks from different websites. And I know individuals who have got study permit in 5 weeks and spouse open work permit in 4 weeks, who applied just a month before me. I truly don't understand why my application is being delayed. It has already been eight weeks. I am practically losing hope now.

Hi Angeli,
i have sent them a webform last monday, i just received a reply and said that the request is still being processed and is still within the processing timeframe. they basically asked me to just wait, lol.

I think they really have tons of backlogs. btw, when is your intake?

I am afraid of the same too. Unfortunately, I don't know the timeline for rejected applications.

Applicant from Bangladesh (SP is reviewed at the Singapore Visa Office).

I lodged my application on 4th March 2021. The review of eligibility began and upfront medical passed on the same date on 23rd March. Since then I am yet to hear back from IRCC (apart from a few ghost updates - possibly glitches). I raised a webform a couple of days back to enquire about my application status. They informed me that my application is pending final officer review, the processing is proceeding, and that there is no action required on my part.

I am expecting to receive a final decision by late May. Till then fingers crossed.
How did you figure out that your study permit was received by the Singapore visa office?
