I was informed by an immigration advisor that there are differences between applying for Express entry inside Canada and outside Canada, both in requirements and processing time. However, I haven't been able to find any information about this online anywhere?
Does anyone know the differences?

Hi,

The only major difference is with respect to the selected program/stream. Because, under Express Entry System there are 3 main streams: FSW, CEC and FST.

1) If you never applied/traveled to Canada and looking forward to apply for Canadian Immigration, then only two stream options will be applicable to you; FSW or FST !.

2) On the other hand, If you're working and currently staying in Canada, then you may be eligible for FSW or CEC category.

So, it mainly depends on your past travel history to Canada and the type of work experience obtained in last 3 to 10 years.

Hope this may clear your doubts

Thank you, I was planning on applying through CEC, FSW and BC PNP tech pilot, since I have the Canadian experience. And then I would just apply through whichever pool I get selected from first.

Based on your provided information, you will be automatically selected for one program and excluded from another.

In that case I should make sure that the program is the PNP program then, since they are basically the only one drawing new people at the moment, right?

Could I start by joining one of the other and then later change pool once I have everything for the PNP?

Yes, it can be done as long you meet the eligibility requirements of some province and are likely to be invited considering your scores.
