Thank you for reading this thread!
My son is an international student studying at Langara College in Richmond, BC. I have been staying with him since I arrived in Canada in Jan 2020. Due to the outbreak of Covid-19, I was not able to travel back to my home country. I applied for a visitor visa extension in June 2020 and was approved in Jan 2021. Since the application was approved, I thought the medical examination was not required so I didn’t do it. As the outbreak continued, in April 2021, I applied for another visa extension, but this time, I was refused because I did not undergo the medical examination required in the last application. I understand it was my mistake to overlook the medical requirement letter the first time. I thought IRCC would send me another medical requirement letter regarding my second application. However, I have not received any letters or emails this time before I received the refusal decision.
I'm willing to undergo a medical examination. I'm still within the 90 day period. I'm currently applying for restoration of status. Now I'm facing some questions.
1. Can I take the medical examination without a letter issued by IRCC since the last one was expired already. Or should I wait for IRCC issue me a new medical instruction letter after I apply for restoration?
2. What date should I put under 'current country or territory of residence' in IMM5708e? I should be out of status from the date (Aug 15th 2021) my second visitor visa extension was refused. But when I type in 2021-08-15, the box was highlighted in red, and I couldn't validate the form. But if I put in some date in the future, the information would be inaccurate. I wonder which date should I fill in?
3. Should I attach a letter to explain the reason I didn't take the medical examination?
My son is in the process of transferring to a four-year university and the situation for international travel remains grim. As a mother, I hope I can stay in Canada until my son is successfully admitted to the university he has always dreamt of.
Please help me and give me some advice. Thank you so much!
