Passport & Visitor expiration

Hi guys,

My father has a visitor visa expiring on Dec 2022 as his passport is expiring in the same month. He is planning to come next year in Oct, 2022. I have some questions:

Should I get his passport renewed? If I renew his passport, can I apply for a new TRV visa by having a TRV visa valid till Oct, 2022?
or
Should I bring him here and apply a TRV from Canada, is that possible? Are there any other ways? Can I apply for extension for record of stay once he comes here and with an expired TRV, will that be possible?

Would suggest he apply to renew his passport sometime mid 2022 and then reapply for a Visitor visa or supervisa.

For Passport Expiry there is must you need to go for renew of passport.

And for Visa there are two thing you have to apply for a new TRV or Replacement Visa both cost to your pocket, so suggestion go for a new TRV application and grab a new visa long duration till passport expiry date.
