I am of Afghan nationality, residing in Saudi Arabia, and I have a conference in May 2022. What is the appropriate option to choose in applying for a visa? There is a special transit visa for Afghans and the option of a tourist visa

It will be very difficult to get a visa unless you have extremely good ties to KSA and you have attended many similar conferences around the world. What is your travel history in the past 5-10years to places like the US, UK, Western Europe, Australia, etc.?

Regular TRV is the right thing to apply for. Make sure you do it well in advance.
