In my opinion;

1-Extensive work experience in your home country if you're not a fresh grad. Extensive means several years spent in good employment.
2-Money and/or property in your home country.
3-Not sounding too enthusiastic in your letter of intent when you're applying for a study permit. You just say that the Canadian degree you want to get will help you advance your career in your home country. Don't say shit like "global" blah blah, keep talking about your career in your home country so the officer thinks you just want a Canadian degree to get some promotion or something.

And for your specific case since you've been in the UK for some years, I believe you need to go with something like "I've gained so and so experience/training in the UK because it was the best in my field. Now I need to complement it with so and so experience/training in Canada because so and so Canadian school/degree/institution is the best place for that which will improve me greatly and strengthen my career prospects in my home country."

I'd guess a lot of people get hit by number 3. They probably suck up to Canada thinking they'd make the officer feel proud and give them a pass but it does exactly the opposite and makes the officer think you're dying to find a way into Canada and you get the red tape.

Lol, Canada elections are like a tea party. You mainly know only about the PM candidates. maybe a few MP. In the US there is like 550 federal elect politicians and each one is a clown. Making ads is a business and it has to be eye catching. So its all to exaggerated. It feels like for americans, everything needs to be a show full of drama. probably problems with attention span.

American politicians are basically attention seeking teenagers. But everyone has a power. Not many know that corruption is very common in US politics. It is called as lobbying.

Imagine being such a stellar loser to call some foreign country you just immigrated to "our country" (probably with a pretty thick accent lmao) while not knowing jack about what its passport can do. I'd love seeing him "our country"-ing around some die hard Albertans, now that'd be fun to watch lol.

I once saw a YouTube video about "pick-up artists". These are guys who stop and chat up random girls on the street and try to get their numbers. There was this obviously Indian guy (with strong accent and all) who was trying to pick-up white girls by introducing himself as Canadian/from Canada. You can probably guess how it went. It was hilarious, cringey, and above all quite pathetic. I'm reminded of this video whenever I see guys here referring to Canada as "my country".

You have a very narrow view of where Canadian citizenship can get you. If you move to the U.S. on TN status, your company can successfully apply for a Green Card at some point in time. I personally have met people who had done this and they are green card holders nowadays. You can also easily get transferred on L1 status to the US, which is a dual intend, and also gets you a green card. A lot of people use Canada as a backdoor to the U.S.; which many U.S. employers would happily prefer to hire than other nationalities from other countries around the world. Right now, there are lots of Canadians moving to the US because the labor shortage is so acute south of the border that every Canadian who wants a TN job, gets one. THAT SIMPLE!

Lastly, once you are a Canadian citizen, you would never need a visa stamp on your passport, unlike ALL other nationalities. Of course, there are few exceptions to this rule but 95% of the occasions, you can cross the border without a visa stamp, which saves you a visit to the consulate.

I don’t think one can apply for a green card on a TN visa because its not a dual intent visa. Most move to US on a L1 and then apply for gc.
