My humble advice to all prospective immigrants who are now outlanders, keep your expectations about Canada at a minimum, for the country will not stop surprising you in what ways it can fail you and itself.

This article says there is no need of highly skilled workers in Canada so that's what they are going to do I guess.

I totally agree with this, said this before myself and heard some distinguished scientists in Canada saying this with my own ears. Canada has no need (or very little need) for highly skilled immigrants because there's nothing in Canada that requires a high level of skill. Like I said before; dig it out and sell it, if we need something then buy it; nothing more.

You guys would be surprised seeing BORN&RAISED CANADIAN uni grads looking for a simple engineering job for 6-12 MONTHS.

Yes, this is the statement, as far as immigration is concerned. Since the pandemic started, the media really loves to use the words "essential workers", just wait till the pandemic is truly over and everybody takes a U-turn on this and start treating these essential workers like shit again.

I mostly agree with this but remember every one has their own reasons to move to Canada, I am moving because of the freedom to work wherever I want and start my own business I cannot do this in US for next 20 years. For me Canada is a good prospect.

Hangin' on. I still have a few hiccups after getting my ITA (related to work exp verification and passing eligibility). These were always going to be issues, but my naive 2020 self thought I'd know by now if I passed eligibility or not.

I don't think the US will ever have or need an FSW program. Especially if someone like Trump manage to get back to power again, heck even Biden who is suppose to be the pro-immigration party is not keen in opening up more doors for skilled immigrants.

Personally I think, if the US is your goal, you'd have a better shot in getting a Canadian Citizenship then working in the US under a TN1 visa, than hoping for the US to open up a similar FSW program.
